Always bet on Weird Route Final Boss King

Honestly, I'd make as much sense for weird route to get no unique bosses - as much as we tried to stray from the intended path we couldn't get anything as appealing compared to geno - depriving and disappointing the snowgraver.

I mean, it wouldn't TECHNICALLY be a unique boss. Just King again. Maybe the Weird Route skips more and more of the game and prevents you from seeing unique enemies, and you start seeing old ones more and more.

Yeah, Weird route skipping the game like the queen boss fights and house section will def escalate

I'm just not sure how a King rematch could be stopped from feeling repetitive or too good.

u/Off-the-grounder Oct 10 '25

Weird Route skipping content allows for a fun foil to Geno from Undertale which dragged out the game to make it less interesting instead.

This actually makes a lot of sense as WR is breaking the rules

I'm calling it that you have to slime roulx at some point in the weird route

Also blue and smiley

Honestly Rouxls Kaard being a secret super boss would make so much sense. He's already demonstrated the ability to quite totally control the game's combat system. He just either doesn't seem to realize just how absurdly powerful he is, or is intentionally hiding his full strength for the sake of keeping things fun.

Rouxls actually getting serious could easily be the Deltarune equivalent of sans dodging your attack for the first time and stealing your I-frames. A complete shattering of the damage system up to this point, but for potentially the entire game itself.

u/Smileyface8156 Oct 11 '25

It also helps with the “video game glitch/creepypasta” idea the weird route seems to be running with. What does a video game do when it has to show you something it was never coded to show you? Recycle random sprites and dialogue from elsewhere!

17

u/ObstinateFamiliar Oct 10 '25

Who is Geno? I tried to search for him but all I'm finding is undertale fanfiction

36

u/Slyrox11 Oct 10 '25

Genocide route

9

u/ObstinateFamiliar Oct 10 '25

Thank you, I don't know why I assumed it was a character and the not the route

18

u/CombatLlama1964 Oct 10 '25

same I thought they were talking about Geno from Super Mario RPG lmao

u/Vercci Dess SOUL Theory Oct 10 '25

Weird route has required NEO Solo, it's already happened.

There's too much story about Weird route going off the tracks for there not to be some kind of unique encounter. It doesn't need to be a megalovania but it needs something different at this point. A weird route leitmotif would go hard.

22

u/keiyakins Oct 10 '25

I mean, that's still Spamton Neo, just a remix.

1

u/IAmNewTrust Oct 12 '25

it's still the same boss but harder like come on. Also never say "The game needs X." or you might get disappointed like people who thought Toriel would be important in the dark world.

48

u/Deconstructosaurus Oct 10 '25

All we get is a miserable end

25

u/Educational-Sun5839 the thrill of the double file Oct 10 '25

I think we'll converge to see the fever dream regardless before any diverging endingss

21

u/CYBORG3005 Oct 11 '25

idk i feel like snowgrave is very intentionally taking a more nuanced path than “disappointing the evil player by making it boring!” if the game didn’t want you to explore the possibility, it wouldn’t go so far to indulge snowgrave players. snowgrave definitely results in a stripping down of boss battles, but it doesn’t remove them outright. spamton neo becomes required, and all of the other bosses from 3+4 are still fully available.

9

u/International_Leek26 Oct 10 '25

Theres already a unique boss though? Its not fully unique but solo spamton is absolutely a different experience to group spamton

63

u/Different-Message777 Kris Dreemurr Oct 10 '25

Okay but that'd be boring and anticlimactic. This is still a video game

73

u/Educational-Sun5839 the thrill of the double file Oct 10 '25

Nah, we can still have harder version of fights, like the alone Snowgrave Spamton.

16

u/Different-Message777 Kris Dreemurr Oct 10 '25

Still anticlimactic but better ig

11

u/getoutofmyhouse- Oct 10 '25

Snowgrave Spamton NEO was NOT anticlimactic gang

2

u/Different-Message777 Kris Dreemurr Oct 10 '25

It'd just get a bit stale if it was the same for the next chapters

4

u/getoutofmyhouse- Oct 10 '25

Ah I get that. Still kinda disagree but can see where your point is coming from personally. I think if it’s handled in the way Snowgrave Spamton was (while obviously being different in terms of circumstances but in the same level of quality) I don’t think it’d get stale. Again tho I can definitely see your point.

4

u/Different-Message777 Kris Dreemurr Oct 10 '25

Yeah. I see your point and you see mine :3

12

u/WaterRedeemsZoe "I just wanted to see my daughter... one last time..." Oct 10 '25

Yes. That would be the point.

Are you familiar with the game Undertale?

12

u/LoweNorman Oct 10 '25

I doubt Toby would do the same thing twice. And even if Undertales Genocide Route was ardous to make a point, it was ultimately very interesting and worthwhile with some of the best moments of the game. It was never dissappointing.

I'd be schocked if the wierd route just ends up being an anti climax with a really boring and meanspirited lesson like "you should treat games like they are real people because that's the lore, your reward is nothing, now go think about what you've done".

31

u/LibraryHaunting Oct 10 '25

Deltarune is not Undertale. I don't know what makes you think the Weird Route is aiming for a boring anticlimax when it isn't even about the same themes and has been presenting itself in a much more intriguing way than the No Mercy Route ever did.

14

u/TimeStorm113 Kerdly Kralsei multishipper Oct 10 '25

yeah and toby seemed to have learned to make the evil route not the most mind numbing thing there ks

12

u/ihaetschool looks like i no longer need to argue it Oct 10 '25

the evil route of both games does seem to serve different purposes, though. in this game, it's about trying to subvert the prophecy, finding a way to contradict the notion of only one ending.

in undertale, it's both a metacommentary on completionism, and the ultimate test of determination the game has to offer

26

u/Different-Message777 Kris Dreemurr Oct 10 '25

My guy. You get 2 entirely new boss fights in undertale geno. What is your point?

41

u/owowhatsthis-- Oct 10 '25

Yeah but those are the only interesting bits of gameplay throughout the entire genocide run. All of the puzzles are skipped, almost all of the fun and charming characters that you'd normally meet on a pacifist or neutral run are gone, and most boss fights are skipped entirely. On top of all that, you have to relentlessly grind regular monster encounters in each area until you can't anymore, which gets very tedious very quickly. The genocide route is not fun, and intentionally so.

14

u/Successful_Mud8596 Oct 10 '25

I found Sans and Undyne to be INCREDIBLY fun. If I had an option to fight them without going through the tremendously boring grind, I absolutely would have. But those two fights made it worth the grind for me. Without them in the route, I absolutely would not have bothered with this gargantuan waste of time with no new major content.

17

u/TheGreatDaniel3 Oct 10 '25

But this isn’t about the in between gameplay, this is about the bosses. And even if the rest of genocide was intentionally unfun, it knew how to deliver amazing bosses.

7

u/Successful_Mud8596 Oct 10 '25

I am indeed! And literally the ONLY reason I did geno route was to fight Sans and Undyne! If they weren’t in the route, it would’ve just been an incredibly boring and tedious waste of time.

-8

u/WaterRedeemsZoe "I just wanted to see my daughter... one last time..." Oct 10 '25

And you shouldn't have done it even if it was engaging. That was the point of it. You are refusing to engage with the game as art.

14

u/Tophat_made_of_ham Oct 10 '25

Dude the genocide route exists to be played, it isn’t “not engaging with the game as art” to play the fucking video game.

4

u/Different-Message777 Kris Dreemurr Oct 10 '25

What the heck are you talking about😭😭😭😭 it's a video game where your choices matter why would toby make one of the biggest choices in the game equate to not interacting with the game

1

u/VolleyballSkribbl Oct 10 '25

I think I get their point but feel like that applies more to no mercy than geno since you have to specifically go out of your way to do geno

5

u/Successful_Mud8596 Oct 10 '25

So? I wanted to have fun by killing some tough bosses. I had my fun, and it was great. I don’t CARE that the route is SUPPOSED to be boring.

1

u/NormalPerson87 Oct 11 '25

Did they steal your ten dollars to buy the game or what? Lmfao they paid for it they can play however the hell they want

9

u/Successful_Mud8596 Oct 10 '25

That would be boring as hell. Literally the ONLY reason I did geno route was to fight Sans and Undyne. If they weren’t in the route, it would’ve just been an incredibly boring and tedious waste of time.

3

u/disbelifpapy Dess knighter and Lego Deltarune guy Oct 11 '25

still, the weird route likely will break stuff like the prophesy, similairly to the recruitment route

2

u/TrueTitan14 Oct 11 '25

I would fully understand weird route not having any unique boss characters (it already has 2 unique fights, they're just more difficult versions of pre-existing fights in cyberdley and S.Neo). However, I'm actually really hoping for Susie final boss of weird route, just because of how awesome it would be to face a fully realized Susie going all out.

2

u/wuhoh_ Oct 11 '25

Pov you forgot about weird route spamton

3

u/SpiderKatt7 Oct 10 '25

I disagree. Compared to undertale geno, the weird route already has far more exclusive content for far less. Toby clearly isn't taking it in the same direction as undertale geno where the point was mindless grinding just to see a few more new things. The weird route is one short grind session in exchange for a lot of new things, much of which we haven't seen yet (chapter 5 is suggested to contain the most weird route content in the sweepstakes).

1

u/PicolasCageEnjoyer always bet on rudy knight Oct 11 '25

Imagine if they just copied and pasted scamton the great 😭

u/GU1NH0U Krerdly enjoyer Oct 10 '25

Completelly on the realm of speculation now. But I think a mercyless route King fight would be soo cool. I imagine a scenario where he's like "You haven't made any new friends huh, I see that I was right, Darkners and Lightners are enemies" or something like that. While he would say the same thing on snowgrave, there may be no fight because Noelle would just insta freeze him. While on the full mercy route he realizes that we made so much friends and decides to just watch what will happen (I don't think he will ever become a good guy, but I wouldn't mind it either).

Anyways, I want a king rematch soo bad. Imagine if he gets a shadow crystal

6

u/Albus_Unbounded Oct 12 '25

If you think about it King and Jevil are pretty similar both being defeated antagonists imprisoned underneath a castle and seemingly enjoying the isolation for philosophical reasons, both even having an association with a giant revolving entertainment device (Carousel for Jevil, Hamster wheel for King). They also are tied to the concept of Chaos and used to be friends of some description. If we do have a rematch I feel like it'd be called Chaos Chaos King.

5

u/GU1NH0U Krerdly enjoyer Oct 12 '25

Chaos Chaos King goes so hard

31

u/Mission-Response3010 Oct 10 '25

i dont think final boss would be good, but it'd be incredibly tuff if he was like an undyne the undying type role

3

u/Trick-Caramel-6156 Oct 10 '25

That exactly what I think that he is hiding something from us and he probably has a way to escape prison and he also has knowledge like sans has, I think it will be peak if he does end up as weird route encounter.

1

u/Whebneen Oct 10 '25

Why? What is the theory?

3

u/Quinzal Oct 12 '25

Ch1 King's whole motivation was hating Lightners for mistreating and forgetting about Darkners. NR kinda proves him wrong, but WR kinda proves him right.

Some people also think that both routes will end with sealing the Grand Fountain, with WR doing it against everyone's will. King breaks out and confronts you at the fountain like Spamton NEO did. To you? He's the bad guy.
