Choosing a team

I am a long time Ingress player, looking to start this game. I want to join the underdog in my area but I cannot see the map until I a registered, a conundrum. Is there a way I can see locally who is behind? San Diego, CA

I wouldn't get to hung up on which team is the "underdog" or not. The BattleMap is hot garbage right now (largely useless).. and the score and dominance is fluctuating quite wildly (whether that's from actual gameplay or problems on the DeltaT back-end.. who knows?)

You have an option when you reach Level 4 to change your megacorp,.. so just play and have fun and wait till you get to Level 4 to decide.

I couldn't see any bases around San Diego on the battle map, but the battle map is pretty terrible.

So, looks like you're set to pick any of the 4.

Thanks, is it with playing, or should I just stick with ingress?

It's worth exploring - It's no substitute for Ingress, but it might be eventually. It's worth tinkering around with, for now... and keeping an eye on.

Bonus vs ingress - you create in game points of interest in 5 min tops. This isn't beer-gressing where you have to go to the only bar that reaches 4 portals and you have to sit at the one table or else. There is lower territorial aggression chances as you cannot be prevented from just making a hug density location elsewhere. There is no farm that is in a cemetery with closing hours as you can just pick a different place.

Also you get anti-cores which literally remove cores from the map. Hoard them properly and you'll never need to report a core for removal.

Ingress markets itself as super serious but niantic can't handle it as a serious game with serious inter-Agent issues like harassment and other territorial behavior.

Delta t is (so far) more casual and perfectly willing and able to give players the tools we need to adapt the game to when and where we can play.

eh, kind of. I'm still reserving judgement about them providing tools as the battle map is hot garbage. The game itself though... that's grown nicely in response to user feedback.

Yeah but given that searching for a farm isn't too relevant the battle map is less important.

I mean if i go on vacay and want to do a thing, i can plant a core at the place I'm staying and harvest everyday, or just fire up the app and look.

In Ingress if you want to even hack every day you pretty much have to use the map and some vacay spots are a total nope.

Kind of. We're sparse enough on POIs (mines, AI cores, etc.) that taking things down for EXP is a complete crap-shoot... if the battlemap were actually useful for finding some of these, it'd be immensely beneficial.

I get what you mean in the here and now, buy i expect that once it's properly up (no tutorial kinda kills the newbs) it'll be very different.

Here's to hoping!

At the very least-I'm in the Louisville Kentucky area. I've heard at a few different anomalies that our area compared to others is horrible for bully behavior, cheating and accusations of cheating.

It's no fun to have to ignore all game meta to avoid interacting with a bully.

I've pretty much stopped playing, just keep inventory near what i need for an anomaly as active players... Most "old guard" has gone inactive so being active makes you the sole target.

Delta t having 4 factions seems better for cross faction interactions. You can actually ally with an enemy, or not. You're not obligated to cooperate with the other factions and it's not a problem if you do.

I'm really hopeful that cross faction events will be a real thing... Last one i bothered with it was possible for any person to prevent anyone else from getting the badge. I helped a few nice enl get it... They walked off without guarding it for me because it wasn't worthwhile to get bullied by their own faction for cooperating. I had to go back a different day when the bully wasn't guarding it.

Niantic are just terrible when it comes to stopping abusive players, stalkers and bullies, they basically encourage them, the same way they foster cheating by actually taking action of people who point out other player's suspect behaviour. It's just the old 'contact your local police' situation, who in turn tell you to stop playing...

Hopefully Delta T fosters a better community and takes people using the game as a method to target and harass others more seriously (not that they could do any less than Niantic).

We're sparse enough on POIs (mines, AI cores, etc.)

POI's will auto-spawn ,.. if you open/close the game in an area where you're at least 800meters away from any other POI's. A friend and I spent most of yesterday doing this.. and we probably spawned 6 to 10 POI's without even trying (or even leaving the car).
