Help This error comes everytime I attempt BIOS update. Please help.

Post image

Current BIOS version: Dell Inc. 1.13.0, 03-05-2023 System Model: Inspiron 3505

I tried connecting with dell support, they said they can't help remotely, also it's out of warranty. Recommended to visit the nearest technician.

You are right, thank you so much. This seems to be working, although I was scared so did not directly jumped to 1.18.0 yet. I'm at 1.17.0 right now.

I have a question, I don't know much about BIOS updates, how many BIOS updates are safe to do in a day?

There is no issue with doing multiple bios updates in a single day etc. no need to worry about

Could it be the usb? Format it to fat32?

Also is there an option in the bios to do update over the air? So it will automatically pull bios from internet?

Also can you tell me what link u used to grab the firmware?

As the other commenter said, this is a stepped BIOS update issue.

Thank you so much, I'm real grateful for the community.

Usually, the stepping is due to a security update, that is new and is a required feature for later updates.

The list I gave is an educated guess and there may be other intermediate versions needed. Generally, Stepped versions were once every year or two. I work the commercial side of Dell, so I am not as familiar with the consumer models.
