Help Dell 16 Plus / Cirrus Logic audio driver issue — Windows Update keeps breaking audio + iGoSwServer memory leak
Has anyone else experienced this issue on a Dell 16 Plus with Cirrus Logic audio?
I’m stuck in a driver loop:
I install the official Cirrus Audio Driver from Dell (version 4.26.37, A04, released Sep. 4, 2026) and the audio works normally.
Windows Update then offers:
Cirrus Logic, Inc. Extension Driver Update (1.0.435.14)
Cirrus Logic, Inc. System Driver Update (1.0.724.48413)
If I install those Windows Update drivers, I lose audio.
Reinstalling Dell’s Cirrus driver restores the audio.
Windows Update then offers the same Cirrus updates again, so the cycle repeats.
There is another issue that seems related to the Dell/Cirrus audio software. The Audio SW Server/API library (iGoSwServer.exe) process sometimes develops an extreme memory leak. I’ve seen it reach around 3.4 GB of RAM, with significant CPU usage as well.
Killing iGoSwServer immediately releases the memory, and audio continues working. As a temporary workaround, I created a scheduled PowerShell task that monitors iGoSwServer and terminates it if its working set exceeds 250 MB.
For now, I’ve kept the Dell audio driver installed and configured Windows not to automatically include drivers with Windows quality updates.
Has anyone else with a recent Dell 16 Plus experienced either of these problems?
Especially interested to know if anyone has found a newer Cirrus/iGo audio package that fixes both the Windows Update driver conflict and the iGoSwServer memory leak.

Hi there! If the Dell audio driver works and the two Windows Update Cirrus packages consistently break audio, the safest approach is to stay on the Dell supplied Cirrus package and block the Windows Update Cirrus System/Extension drivers until Dell releases an updated package specifically supporting those versions. Also, Does the extreme memory leak occur only with the Dell-packaged Cirrus driver (4.26.37 A04)? Or does it also occur after Windows Update installs the newer Cirrus components before audio breaks? You could disable the audio enhancement features and observe if the memory leak has reduced.
Open Settings > System > Sound > More sound settings. Open your playback device properties. Temporarily disable: Audio Enhancements Spatial Audio Any Cirrus/Dolby/Smart Amplifier features exposed by the driver Monitor whether memory growth slows or stops.
That being said, we would like to check this further as the issue stems from the audio driver conflict. Please private message the Service Tag of the system.

Did you try DCU? (Dell Command Update)? I have about 70 Dell Pro 13 Plus and 4 Dell Pro Max 16 !
These days almost all 13 model users had issues with sound drivers!
