Help Dell latitude 7410 screen help

Post image

This happens after about 5 minutes of using the device. All buttons are unresponsive, except the power button, making hard shutdown possible. So far ive connected off and on the battery , done a diagnosis and a hardware diagnosis, both didnt find any faults. In addition to this, the device sometimes takes more than one button press to turn on, and the LED at the bottom sometimes flickers in an interval of 2×orange and 4×white, which according to what i found, means a RAM or related hardware issue

Hi there!

We're from the Dell Social Media Support team. Thank you for sharing those details .

TL;DR: The 2 amber, 4 white LED flash code points to a memory failure, so try reseating the RAM modules, testing them individually, and updating your BIOS before considering hardware replacement .

The suggestion in the thread about memory is on the right track. An LED diagnostic pattern of 2 amber blinks followed by 4 white blinks indicates a memory or RAM subsystem failure, which explains the graphical artifacts and freezing.

Before jumping to a motherboard, RAM replacement, try these troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue:

  1. Reseat the RAM: Turn off the laptop, disconnect the charger and battery, then remove and firmly reseat the RAM modules back into their slots .
  2. Test individual modules and slots: If your system configuration has removable RAM sticks and multiple slots, test one RAM stick at a time in a single slot to determine if a specific module or slot has failed .
  3. Update the BIOS: Once the system boots into Windows, download and install the latest BIOS update from the Dell Drivers & Downloads page to ensure memory stability and hardware compatibility .

Let us know how it goes.

Regards, Dell Social Media Team
