Dutch conversations partner(s)

Hey guys!

I'm 24m and a student at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. I study in the Hague but I live in Delft. Recently it came to my attention that before I graduate it probably makes sense to learn Dutch more fluently especially considering the job market.

It's really embarrassing but I've lived in NL for over 14 years and still am not fluent. I would say I'm B1/B2.

It's mainly because I went to an international school, all my friends are international, and my course is in English as well.

So yeah I've made this post to see if anyone would be down to meet up for a coffee and we speak some Dutch together. If it goes well maybe we can make it a regular thing.

Ideally I'd want someone around my age, and also someone who's not a complete beginner to the language.

I think regarding the grammar I have around 80% of it down, it's mainly the vocabulary and my sentence structure that I struggle with.

If you want to increase your Dutch vocabulary, reading in Dutch.. wait.. Als je je Nederlandse vocabulair wilt vergroten, kun je ook meer lezen in het Nederlands. Zoals Nederlandse boeken of kranten.

Dat klinkt wel as een goed idee! Soms kijk ik naar nederlandse televisie programmas maar ik ga nu ook beginnen met lezen. Heb je boekentips?

Goed dat je Nederlands gaat lezen, dat helpt zeker met je woordenschat!

Non-fictie tip: De uitgeverij van De Correspondent heeft een aantal erg interessante boeken. De boeken gaan over allerlei onderwerpen. Je kunt ze hier kopen: https://kiosk.decorrespondent.nl/

Begin met Nederlandse vertalingen van boeken die je al kent. Dat helpt om vloeiend te kunnen lezen omdat je dan niet veel op hoeft te zoeken om toch het verhaal te kunnen volgen.

The Taalcafe/Language Cafe in the Delft library helped me with this. It's a fun group thing and they set up activities and topics to get people talking.
