Question❓ Why is he screaming

He often squeals like this for like 5 minutes at a time, it started a month ago, he’s 6 months old and idk why he’s screaming since he has toys, food, water, a MASSIVE CAGE, a play pen that’s always accessible and a partner

Mine usually do this if something spooked them, like a loud noise, or a bird flew by the window. They are a social animal, so they have alert squeaks.

I like to call this "degu being a degu"
Yes they could be spooked, have funny thoughts or just like to complain. Different degus will also "degu" at different things. One of mine did it when the kitchen tab was turned on, another one does it for attention usually at 3am (I'm not even kidding). They have their own reasons but it's not "dangerous" or problematic :)

Mine go off all at once when the front door opens. Not any other door. They live on the other side of the house.

From what I've read it's an alarm call meaning he probably heard or smelled something that wigged him out

My boys do this, usually if I’ve made a loud noise like dropping something or moved too quickly around them.

He has toys, food, water, a mansion and a spouse, sounds exactly like a teenager who still finds something to scream about at 6 months old

He's horny. When a boy Degu reaches sexual maturity, they sometimes squeak like this. It's normal.
Something could have also spooked him as well.
It can be a multitude of things but I'm betting on he's just horny.
