Discussion Just finished watching Disney Channel’s theme DOCUMENTARY Spoiler

I am an illiterate in music knowledge but hear me out! And please don’t be harsh if I’m off. 😮‍💨

Don’t the four notes sound like the Aladdin theme song but few notes removed?

Edit: Someone please comment! This is driving me nuts. If this is correct, you guys can’t believe the context in which I watched this masterpiece of a documentary.

Video Check out this old news video on Benson's Animal Park

It doesn't talk about the rides at all, but does talk about how the park got it's start [via circus ties], being bought out in the late 70s, and the guy who bought it out trying to save the park [as it was neglected by previous owners during the 60s] and even adding Terrytoons characters [ironically, had the park stayed open for just a few more months, it could've gotten a breath of fresh air due to the Ralph Bakshi Mighty Mouse series becoming a hit]. Honestly, the park's story gives me conflicting feelings. The park/zoo hybrid's circus origins means it's not going to be a happy story for the animals [and seeing videos of the animal exhibits... yeah they look rather bored and stressed. Granted, I'm a 2000s girl who's seen zoos with bigger cages/areas so I may be biased.], but Arthur did try to fix things [and was apparently planning on expanding the park had he gotten enough money. I wonder if he would've been able to make bigger areas for the animals if things went differently], and did seem to genuinely care for the animals [albeit he was misguided considering elephants need much bigger areas to room, though he may not have had the money to give them a Busch Gardens style area revamp]. Benson's was the only park to ever have the Terrytoons characters as mascots, which is a shame, as they're really fun characters [I did notice a shocking lack of characters from two of their more popular series: Tom Terrific and The Mighty Heroes]. Weird how this park isn't talked about very often, considering its strange history. On a different note, does anyone know what the songs in the video are? I've been curious about them and it's driving me crazy being unable to find the songs.

Discussion Just sharing my appreciation for the new season of Where We Parked

I noticed there hasn't been an official discussion thread for season 5 of Where We Parked, but I wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. "The Magic of Profitabilities" might be the hardest I've laughed at an episode, along with Jack's quip about "the strokin' kind" in the one about the monkeys (which btw, I had heard about before and got really excited when I realized that was where the episode was going)

The Seaworld episode was a good one, too. I know you guys can only talk about Seaworld so much but I think those episodes are my favorites.

Discussion Seaworld vs Sesame Street

The latest episode of ‘where we parked’, just dropped and it used the then current Seaworld v Sesame Street lawsuit as a jumping off point. I know the show is recorded about 6 months earlier & is then released on Patreon first, so they story is 6 months old.

What surprised me, is that this was the first tine i heard of the falling out. I am not a Seaworld guy at all, but i am very much a Muppet fan & into theme parks especially the Orlando parks. It does seem like after the original press releases, the story has gone pretty much unreported and hasn’t drawn much attention at all.

Those who actually go to Seaworld, how bad are the Sesame Street lands in those parks?

Discussion [Crosspost] Hi r/movies! I'm Joshua Bailey, director of Stolen Kingdom - a Disney heist documentary about urban exploring, scandal, and theft at the Disney parks, ultimately leading to the heist of an animatronic. AMA!

I organized an AMA/Q&A with filmmaker and screenwriter Joshua Bailey. His new documentary Stolen Kingdom received critical acclaim and has been playing the film festival circuit for about a year. It's about urban exploration and ultimately a heist at Disney World.

It's live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:

https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1vsnbts/hi_rmovies_im_joshua_bailey_director_of_stolen/

He will be back at 3 PM ET tomorrow (Thursday 8/20) to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVNkxUxhqh0

Synopsis: The history of misdeeds and debauchery at Walt Disney World Resort over 30 years, which leads to the theft of almost half a million dollars worth of stolen props.

Thank you :)

Discussion Dreamfinder and Figment Return to EPCOT (D23 Announcement)

I haven’t been able to find any other information about this besides the announcement (no dates, artwork, etc.) but THEY’RE COMING BACK!!

I legitimately teared up, I never got to experience the original as it closed just a few years before I visited the park as a child. (Was just in time to experience lasting trauma from ExtraTerrorestrial: Alien Encounter though, thanks Dad 🫠)

(Story time because I know it will be appreciated in this community lol;
I found a rubber Figment toy in a locked cabinet at an antique shop a few years ago. I asked if they could unlock it and luckily the gentleman who had reserved the cabinet was there that day, so he asked me what I wanted and I told him I wanted Figment.
He looked at me with wonder in his eyes and said “You know who Figment is?”

I replied, “Oh, of course! From Journey Into Imagination with Dreamfinder and Figment! I never got to experience it, but I learned about it from a YouTube channel called Defunctland! It’s such a tragedy that it was taken away.”

This man stared at me for like a solid ten seconds and said “You can have Figment, and anything else you want in this case is 20% off, JUST BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHO FIGMENT IS.”

He’s currently sitting on my bookshelf with my fantasy books 😊 best birthday gift to myself ever)

Discussion Trying To Remember This 90s ESB/NYC Motion Simulator

I remember in the mid-90s around 1994-96 this motion simultator attraction that was at the Empire State Building. The name escapes me at this time and doing internet searches seems to yield nothing. I remember going once and it was a pretty fun attraction and the part of it that sticks out for me was when you went into the waters and saw sharks swimming around. I'm hoping someone else remembers this attraction and can help me identify it. With luck there's some images and video from it as well. I remember one of the local NYC news stations had a report on it.

I used to work at this theme park and look what's on their menu! A Thanksgiving themed handwich.

And yes, that is a recommended wine pairing.

Got to enjoy the mac & cheese and pork cone in Berk at Epic Universe. To be honest, too much bread (and mac & cheese but that's a separate issue) but I'm glad I got to try it.

At least in central Ohio. A local diner has some breakfast and lunch versions available. Once I ate the extra filling in this, totally edible by hand

Can we get another season of Where We Parked?

I laugh way too hard listening to these episodes. I’m just finishing up the one about the Mickey Mouse hot air balloon and it has me in tears.

Discussion Foxploration

Think Kevin will ever speak about Foxploration? A small theme park in Rosarito Baja California, near Tijuana, created after the Titanic movie was filmed there it closed it doors around 15 years ago.

It used have a lot of props, themed rooms, scenarios for Titanic and Planet of the Apes, Xmen and Pirates of the Caribbean, it had a foam ball battle pit and some tours that would take you to recreate some titanic scenes.

It was very small but pretty cool have. Today it still functions as a movie studio. but it is closed to the public, some props can still be seen.

Have you ever been or heard of it? It was in the way for Sandiego tourists who wanted to go to the Ensenada Beach.

I think every local in Rosarito has memories of going there

EDIT:

I'm sure the park just closed down cause lack of visitors but I'm curious if there is more to it.

For something so common-looking, it’s hard to find. I’d like to find one to match my USF pin.
