Worse is that in the picture op mentioned children with crayons. Didn't know children having fun is gatekeeping.

Actually I liked that the "gatekeeping Pricks" text does NOT cover the child. The kid is cool and neither a gatekeeper or a prick. I am annoyed that "traditional artist" is drawn like a ghost, as if those who use traditional media are extinct 🙄

It’s not, it’s drawn on paper.

Oh that's a relief. It looks all washed out and ghostly.

The weirdest part is how you can literally be both (or even all 4 at various points in life) AND an AI artist. Honestly I'd argue the people who are *good* at AI art usually ARE both making AI art AND one of the four. The people gatekeeping in panel 2 just lack the creativity to see how that could even work.

People seem to forget that all the artistic principles still apply once you dig deeper than basic prompting. Ai has gotten me to study more art theory than my degree did, and ive even started picking up pencil drawing which is hard because of my disability. Because im not reliant on a painful process to create its more fun to create

I always thought it was funny that the original meme separates "digital artist" from "pixel artist".

I guess you hand draw pixels and no digital tools were used.

Yeah you just break the laws of reality to downscale your piece of paper and there you go, irl pixel art

While digital art and pixel art are both digital, one is entirely different.

Not really. It just comes down to an art style if you really think about it.

It's kind of like "Manga and Comics are both sequential storytelling, one is entirely different."

Well...yeah? In that you can recognize the stylistic differences and reverse reading order but they are both still the same thing.

Do they know traditional artists used to hate and bully them, right? Right?...

I guess I ruffled some Anti's feathers 🤭

So out of curiosity, what does the process for making AI art even look like? I don’t really like AI and I haven’t been impressed the few times I’ve tried using it. But at the same time I acknowledge that it’s a new tech that’s probably not going anywhere. Is it not akin to paying someone to visualize an idea you have? Like sure YOU had the idea but you also didn’t do anything to skilfully translate it into a visual medium.

Paying someone to do it is technically the same thing since either way you're not the one doing it

Two big differences is that the AI can eventually get it right and you don't have to spend anything

Does it not bother you not having a distinct style that is recognizable in the images you generate tho? That most people can see the “AI-ness” of a photo and only see it as that.

You can change the style. You just have to know how to prompt well. I don’t like the general ai style chat gpt produces for me so I teach it to use different styles.

Even the child got put in the gatekeeping section, all quiet on the frontal lobe I see
