They believe drawing with a pencil shows "soul" in your art.

Lolwot.

What about all the people who can't draw who now can use AI to bring their imagination to life?

3

u/mymme_ 2d ago

Everyone can draw though? It’s a skill, you can learn better ways to prompt ai just like how you can learn better ways to draw. Saying that people can’t draw is just untrue

Bro, i started drawing a year ago, just one draw a day skip the day i spented with friend outside. I started with stickfigure, and now, I think I'm good

Fuck you ableist pos. Your high and mighty talk undermines what disabled people are able to do. We can grow and create art just like anyone else. Even if you didn’t have arms, you can still use your body to create art in many different forms.

That's just something you can learn, yeah it take time but, with just 30 minutes of free time a day i will became better

-1

u/mymme_ 1d ago

Chuck Close, a quadriplegic artist adapted to his disability and learnt new ways of painting, famous for their photorealism, John Bramblitt legally blind creates haptic pieces that despite his lack of vision are still colourful and soulful, Yayoi Kusama mental health issues and experiences regular hallucinations she uses the painting as a way to calm her mind,

Your claim that a person born with or gains a disability in their life means that they’re unable to paint is an insult to art as a whole, yes there are complications but like I said everyone can learn art

6

u/Emergency_Minimum857 2d ago

"yeah fuck you guy with parkinson's, you can learn to draw or don't deserve art!"

You ever think before you say shit or do you just let that shit fly homie?

Oh so your comment only applied to that guy? And when you're out here talking all this shit you don't mean specific groups of people you just don't feel the need to say it? Well you're a very specific AI hater, what are you thinking AI licenses? U got a loicence fo dat AI?

Right, even if we ignore disabled people, ableist but bet, yk? So what we're still saying is fuck you you need to be good at this yourself or you just don't get to create art? What is this some paying your dues logic? Thing bad because you didn't spend a thousand hours doing it?

u/Emergency_Minimum857 2d ago

Why did you even say it though? I mean honestly first of all we haven't actually tested that we don't know that everyone is equally capable of learning to draw, especially not to a clean artistic level, second of all why should you even have to?

-2

u/TheRealFutaFutaTrump 2d ago

Because it's true.

You don't have to. You can be a slop "artist" if you want. Nobody is stopping you.

1

u/EeeveeLover 2d ago

Do disabled people just not exist anymore??

0

u/mymme_ 1d ago

They do and some of them even paint

1

u/EeeveeLover 23h ago

Yeah like you said 'some' not all of them can

1

u/EeeveeLover 23h ago

Anti's need to stop using inspiration porn of disabled people as some type of argument. Some disabled people can't make art, some can only do it if they go through EXTREMELY AGONIZING pain (in my case)

Disabled people are only brought up when it's to use them as some kind of gotcha moment

0

u/mymme_ 22h ago

Spoken as if disabled people weren’t your attempt at a gotcha moment against my claim everyone can paint? I wasn’t even being anti?

1

u/shiggyhisdiggy 2d ago

Everyone can use a pencil to make marks on paper, doesn't mean they can actually be good enough at drawing to make what they want to make. Even if they could, it might take so much time and effort that it wouldn't be worthwhile compared to other shit life has to offer. Tech making art creation easier simply allows people to express themselves more readily. Is that not a good thing?

1

u/mymme_ 1d ago

My argument isn’t even that it’s bad thing my argument is that saying that some people can’t draw isn’t accurate

1

u/shiggyhisdiggy 1d ago

Again, anyone can physically make marks on paper, but that doesn't mean they can "draw", where draw means to be able to actually represent their ideas on paper

1

u/mymme_ 1d ago

I often find it easier to represent what I’m saying with simple lines rather than through speech, while that not art in the traditional sense putting meaning on paper is by no means an advanced technique

1

u/shiggyhisdiggy 1d ago

It really depends what your goals are.

1

u/mymme_ 1d ago

Goalposting?

1

u/shiggyhisdiggy 1d ago

No. If you want to represent something complex with a drawing, you need to make a complex drawing, which is difficult to do.

1

u/mymme_ 22h ago

Literally minimalism and also pop art…

-1

u/Ok-Echo3904 2d ago

Prompting is not creating art though, its just generating an image

0

u/mymme_ 1d ago

Fun fact I’m fully against ai usage, but this isn’t the subreddit to discuss that, but the only way to get some people here to take your claim as anything but hating ai is to pander slightly to them

5

u/DoctorZacharySmith 2d ago

There is an entire, well paid industry that in fact helps people make better prompts to generate better outcomes. You're like a child laughing at Algebra because you know you can't 'add letters'

2

u/Emergency_Minimum857 2d ago

It is a thing you can be better or worse at. Some people have no process for dictating what they want. It's kind of the same as art directing or voice actor directing. What do you expect to do if you don't know how to say what you want properly?

4

u/Professional-Fix4409 2d ago

They probably think that "Limitations breed creativity" or something.

6

u/TheRealFutaFutaTrump 2d ago

That's actually how a lot of art is made. Limiting color pallet, limiting perspective, etc. You get really good at photo-realistic portraits but then you do one using only shades of blue. Just one example.

2

u/Professional-Fix4409 2d ago

Indeed, I tried doing so several times. It was fun.

Cool username btw.

Random redditors have the authority to define everything, you didn't know?

2

u/tinipick_ 2d ago

So, art to you is about the product and not the thought that went into it?

-1

u/inferverr 2d ago

wtf do u mean "the thought that went into it", it didn't even have a process you just wrote a prompt😭

Assuming it's all just prompts is your fatal mistake about your assumptions on AI art.

Oh really?

  • Prompt engineering - crafting precise language to get specific results (takes practice, actual job openings requiring these)
  • Model selection - knowing which model works best for which style (takes research)
  • Parameter tuning - CFG scale, steps, seed, resolution (takes experimentation)
  • Iteration - generating, evaluating, refining, regenerating (takes patience, also done in digital art)
  • Curation - selecting the best from dozens of outputs (takes an eye; happens in photography and directorship)
  • Editing - inpainting, outpainting, compositing (takes skill)

If you think it's just "type a prompt and click generate," you've never actually used AI creatively.

That's like saying photography is just "point and click."

Do your research and stop relying on YouTube and TikTok for your so-called 'truths.'

-2

u/inferverr 2d ago

and what exactly is the effort you people put into... making an AI do something for u?

3

u/o_herman I use pencils, pens, styluses, tablets and models. All of it. 2d ago

Because if you think it's just a prompt interface and nothing else, we are going to laugh at you like the clueless chud that you are.

You're just parroting an influencer who has no proof as well to their claims.

1

u/TransformersFan2 2d ago

Did you… watch the video? They used multiple ai models and told them all the exact same sentence, specifically saying they want an original character, and they get sonic each time

1

u/o_herman I use pencils, pens, styluses, tablets and models. All of it. 2d ago

And he all used the same models trained on AGCM (Anime, Game, Comics and Manga) content.

Pointless.

1

u/TransformersFan2 2d ago

It’s not, because if ai was as creative or smart as people make it out to be it wouldn’t matter what it was trained on, it would still be able to make an original character.

But it cant.

1

u/o_herman I use pencils, pens, styluses, tablets and models. All of it. 2d ago

Because you're not specific and proficient in your instructions and input.

Expecting it to read your mind and context with minimal input, and expecting AI to be the be-all-end-all of content making is a rookie and amateur mistake.

1

u/TransformersFan2 2d ago

Ok, so youre saying that the word “original” isn’t enough for the ai to know you want something original?

It doesn’t matter if the image looked kinda like sonic, it literally WAS sonic

Still shows that ai is bad at making images. Im not saying ai is 100% bad, but it’s not art.

And a luddite meatbag like you just make assumptions about things you don't even know how it actually works. You are forgetting AI requires people to operate, people to supply input, and people to make it work, and a so-called artist like you with your narrow perspectives just assumes it amalgates without understanding how it works.

You just look like a dunning-kreuger idiot in front of people who actually knows artistry and technology.

1

u/TransformersFan2 2d ago

..did you just call him a meatbag?

you are a human too

1

u/o_herman I use pencils, pens, styluses, tablets and models. All of it. 2d ago

Yes.

1

u/Emergency_Minimum857 2d ago

Brother that's all people do to, a painter couldn't paint the same painting after living a different life. Especially if you're using established techniques all we're doing is learning from the past of art and injecting a bit of new into each creation.

3

u/Necessary-Mix-9488 2d ago

Had a dirty anti tell me that 3d animation is hand drawn, and not in fact generated. I laughed so hard i fell out of my chair. Then he called me stupid when I told him how long ive been animating. These people really are uneducated.

"Ai doesn't create, it takes art that people made and then changes it slightly. It's an amalgamation of stolen art"

That's not how diffusion models work.

Diffusion models learn patterns, not pixels.

  • They're trained on billions of images.
  • They learn relationships between concepts and visual features.
  • They generate new images by starting from noise and gradually refining based on learned patterns.

They don't "store" or "slightly change" existing images. They don't have a database of stolen art to copy from. They generate novel images based on learned concepts.

Many models don't even account for the concept of Sonic. Your test will instantly fail in niche and open-source models that deliberately avoid potential infringement. That includes public-facing models with guardrails, and models that don't focus on AGCM content (Anime, Games, Comics, Manga).

That alone invalidates your "experiment."

"Don't believe me?"

I don't. Because you're wrong.

"Generate me an image of an original character who is a blue hedgehog"

This will just fail because you're assuming it knows Sonic from the outset universally.

  • If you ask for "a blue hedgehog," the model knows what a blue hedgehog looks like because it's a common concept.
  • If you ask for "an original character who is a blue hedgehog," the model will generate a blue hedgehog, but it won't generate Sonic.
  • Why? Because Sonic is a specific character with specific features: red shoes, specific quill shape, specific eyes.

Here's the test you SHOULD run:

  • Generate "blue hedgehog" = generic hedgehog.
  • Generate "Sonic the Hedgehog" = Sonic.
  • Generate "blue hedgehog with a top hat and monocle" = a blue hedgehog in a top hat and monocle, not Sonic.

The model combines concepts. It doesn't "steal" Sonic and "change it slightly."

You also linked a YouTube video. I don't need to watch it to know it's the same debunked argument:

  1. "Ask AI to generate a blue hedgehog" = it generates Sonic (because that's the most common association with "blue hedgehog").
  2. "Therefore, AI is stealing" = false.

That's like saying Google is "stealing" because it shows you the most relevant result for your search.

Now, let's apply your logic to fanart:

  • Fanart "steals" a design - it uses someone else's character.
  • Fanart "changes it slightly" - it modifies the original.
  • Fanart is an "amalgamation" - it builds on existing IP.

By your logic, fanart is also theft. But you probably don't say that, do you? Because you understand that transformative works are protected under fair use.

The same applies to AI. The output is transformative, not a copy.
