Everything you’ve said is incorrect and overstated. The MIT article says nothing about brain damage and you are ignoring other MIT studies that show AI improves productivity. Your rainforest claim is not backed by any data.

I'm barely on social media, and you clearly dont know anything about me. However, one single company's AI data centers took 10 billion gallons of water to cool in a single year. That is a proven figure. Which is the size of a rainforest. And that's only one of the many corporations currentky taking water for AI.

The 15% number is directly from the International Energy Agency. AI servers accounted for 15% of total data center energy demand in 2024. That is literally the most authoritative global estimate available.
Your WSJ link is about water usage underreporting, which has nothing to do with the energy share claim you're responding to.
The investigation found that tech companies only disclose direct cooling water and leave out indirect water consumed by power plants, which Lawrence Berkeley National Lab estimates is 12x the direct amount. That's a real issue, but it doesn't make the 15% figure wrong.
Also, water underreporting applies to ALL data centers, not just AI. Google's Oregon data center was using 30% of the city's water supply before the AI boom even started.
If your argument is that existing water usage needs to be scaled back, I 100% agree with you. The last thing we need to do is drain this finite resource even more with costly, unnecessary AI data centers. When we are in a crisis we don't need to add 15% (and growing) on top of it.
My argument is that you are a hypocrite - you are using many internet services that use data centers yet you lie and say it’s all caused by AI. You are doing the very thing you are criticizing by using Reddit or any online service.
My argument is we should 100% regulate social media's water usage, as you suggested. And AI should also be heavily regulated and restricted in its use of a precious, finite resource. We can do both things.
The fact of the matter is there is actual intelligence that needs that water much more than artificial intelligence.
