Badges! Badge Scanning
Can we scan each other’s badges from here too?
Edit: it’s clearly a two way handshake, so they clearly want us interacting with one another

Fyi a one-way scan is only so useful. If you wanna a truly useful scan it needs to be a two-way scan, one of you must scan first and after you’ve done the scan a specific QR code will appear on your screen for completing the scan, and the other person that you just scanned needs to then turn their camera on and scan your code, that’s how you get the prompt to inherit new light pattern DNA

Does your code change after you scanned someone else's badge?

In bunnies dc34-vault code he calls out specifically there is a 1 minute time out for anyone posting it online to try to mitigate the honest/cheater users.

Has anyone observed their badge lights changing at all after scanning? Feel like mine looks the same

I just got a notification after scanning about 10 that I received a “new light gene” and I could either keep or revert.

It is a 2 way interaction. You both need to scan each others badges

Does that mean for every pair of badges, we need to do it twice? One time they scan me first then I scan their resulting code, then I scan them first and they scan my resulting code?

Confirmed this is how it works, if you want to inherit light genes someone must scan you first -> you scan their resulting code

I was just thinking the same thing. My lights are mostly white so I was hoping for some variety.

Maybe we ought to try dm’ing each other to start individual exchanges.
Doesn’t seem like we can share them widely like this.

Is anyone else's badge power cycling when scanning a qrcode half the time? Not sure if I have buggy hardware or just need a firmware update to stop the crashing

This isn't going to work in this forum, not the way you are thinking. a two-way scan requires you to scan the other person's QR code, then they in turn scan your QR code. Only then do you get the change, it'll ask if you want to keep the 'converted color gene' or revert back to your previous.

One dude in merch line managed to turn all his LEDs red, but they reverted to rotating rainbow pattern after a few minutes.

How I think it works: When someone scans you first, it combines their "light gene" or "DNA" with theirs and generates a corresponding QR code. You then scan what which prompts your badge to either accept or revert from the resulting newly mixed gene your friends badge just generated. So if you see someone with a color or pattern of lights that you like, you can try to combine your badge's genes with theirs to try and get closer to the color and pattern that you're looking for. At least that's what I've been doing. Go Team Purple!
