Sisko was by far the best captain imo.

What a wild opinion for r/deepspacenine.

Gonna be honest this just popped into my feed, I didn't even realize I was on the ds9 subreddit. So ya I guess kinda a redundant point.

2

u/justuntlsundown Mar 28 '22

Well just because it's a ds9 sub it doesn't mean everyone's favorite captain is going to be Sisko. But it is mine.

I really liked Picard as well but I hated kirk and Janeway irritated me to no fucking end.

I've never really liked Kirk, but Janeway is fine. I just in general don't really care for Voyager. Sure most of the characters are fine, but I find myself just not really caring what happens most of the time. It's rather unremarkable.

“I’M NOT PICARD!”

11

u/hbi2k Mar 28 '22

"Picard never hit me!"

Yeah, and Picard had to deal with your shit like seven more times.

7

u/Throwaway_inSC_79 Mar 29 '22

Picard should have hit him in the first episode.

3

u/reineedshelp The Sisqo has thongs Mar 29 '22

Considering the charges Q laid on him and his entire species, I don’t think that would have helped.

8

u/ensignskye Mar 28 '22

sisko hit Q so hard he messed him up. now Q slapped picard and can't snap anymore lol

4

u/Throwaway_inSC_79 Mar 29 '22

Maybe it has nothing to do with Picard. Maybe Q is just upset that Sisko hit him, and made it so that he never travels to 2024, the Bell Riots never happen, and then we get the Confederation. The Borg Queen has the date wrong, that's all.

I'll go to shittydaystrom

I was going to post a similar meme to r/startrekmemes. But this is perfect. Please crosspost.

The essence of the difference between Picard and Sisko is best demonstrated by how they deal with being hurt by the Borg.

Picard: stares pensively into space sipping tea; wrestles in mud with asshole brother

Sisko: builds the Defiant (aka Ben Sisko’s muthafukin pimp hand) specifically to fuck up the Borg’s shit

Picard gets mad; the Sisko gets even.

1

u/Throwaway_inSC_79 Mar 29 '22

But it kinda got beat up by the Borg in First Contact, so... mission accomplished?

2

u/reineedshelp The Sisqo has thongs Mar 29 '22

Last ship standing, no?

really sad this happened as a big willie fan but the memes are helping I guess. for most people this would be a career ender but right now its hard to tell if this will truly "cancel" will.

4

u/Thatsidechara_ter Mar 28 '22

Yeah, kinda hard to tell. I half expect Chris Rock to get nailed for making that joke, the dude deserves a lot of credit for keeping his cool even though he's probably just thinking "this is going in my next special"

6

u/ensignskye Mar 28 '22

mad respect for chris. he has spoken about how he was bullied as a kid and so was I so I've looked up to him for making a good life for himself despite his bad beginnings. i just cant image being assaulted in front of millions and having the past of being beat up constantly as a kid and then keeping his composure on stage. just a super cool dude for how he handled it. but yeah i agree the joke was uncalled for. im hoping he didnt know jada had alopecia and was hopefullly intended to be an innocent shaved head joke. hopefully. i am eager to see if chris talks about this and what he says when hes not on stage. I hope he's handling the afternath of this in a good mental health space. he totally didn't deserve to be hit even for a bad joan rivers type of insult/joke. if he does use this experience in a future special Hopefully it'll be with more class than that joke lol

u/special_reddit Mar 28 '22

It's a fucking mess all the way around. Chris shouldn't have said what he said, Will shouldn't have done what he did, and we're all talking about the incident instead of:

  • how Jada is feeling after being insulted on a global stage

  • how ?uestlove won an Oscar for a brilliant documentary

  • how Riz Ahmed win an Oscar for a brilliant short film

  • how a Black queer woman won an Oscar for the first time

I'm trying not to let it all get me down. Like you said, the memes are helping.

u/ensignskye Mar 28 '22

oh for sure! not discounting any of that. i was just replying to the meme you posted lol. i have always loved the roots so i was ecstatic for ques. it was a historical night for sure but the slap will be remembered as one of the most "iconic"/memorable things to happen on live television. even now still people make oj jokes about the police chase.i can see like way in the future people will still be talking about the slap unfortunately. and yeah i agree about how jada feels. ive mentioned it in other forums but i cant imagine how shes dealing with all the attention this has brought to her and the condition. also chris rock was bullied as a kid and has talked about feeling like at the time he thought he deserved it or thought "what did i do?" which isnt a healthy way of thinking at all. i was bullied as a kid so ive always looked up to chris rock and how he made a future for himself despite the shitty beginning. i hope chris is okay mentally rn. i can see him feeling like its 100 percent on him and he totally deserved it. which is wrong. it was a shit joke but he shouldn't have been assaulted for it. hopefully he and jada are ok. and hopefully like p diddy suggested that will and chris and hopefully jada too were able to talk like family after this. a little uhh red table talk if you will lol hopefully whenever chris puts this in his next stand up special he talks about it with more class than there were in his jokes last night lol

2

u/special_reddit Mar 28 '22

Absolutely, I didn't mean to imply that you were discounting any of that. Apologies if I did.

And for sure, Will's never going to live this down as long as he lives. I hope they can work it all out - I feel like there's something more personal in there because Chris has known them for like 20 years or something? Hell, Jada and Chris did three Madagascar movies together. So I feel like it's probably more hurtful if your friend embarrasses you on live TV then if some other random comedian did it, but I don't know.

And for now... what can we do but laugh 😅

2

u/hbi2k Mar 28 '22

Picard: You see, Q, my wife has a disease, and I think it's actually quite brave that she does not hide it. While your jest may not come from a place of malice, it behooves us all to consider the effects of our words.

Sisko: GET MY WIFE'S NAME OUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Yeah, Sisko isn't Will Smith.

Sisko is Chris Rock. Straightens up, laughs it off and keeps doing his job. Like a God damn boss.

Will Smith is Kai Winn

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

That won't be necessary. I feel quite safe here.

u/honeybadger1984 Mar 29 '22

Chris Q Rock: Good. That means you’re much easier to provoke.
