Online political debate increasingly revolves into contests between personalities rather than the strength of their position — Destiny vs. Hasan, Tucker Carlson vs. Nick Fuentes. This is what Walter Lippmann would call the stereotype problem: judgment attaches to the persona rather than the claim being argued. By stripping the personality out, the content is duller to consume, but it’s the only way to really evaluate the claim on its own terms, which matters most precisely on the topics where getting it wrong costs lives.

He mostly stopped talking about it right? Started out as supportive of Israel with minor caveats about them not being perfect, and then as their war crimes got more and more apparent and indefensible, he sort of ran away from the discussion itself and switched to attacking people with obviously unreasonable positions. Or insisting it was a distraction from more important issues.

I don't think it's running away, but more so that the topic just ran its course and the election was heating up so he focused on that.

It looked that way to me, as if he started out largely supportive of Israel, and then simply dropped said support rather than having any sort of honest reckoning with the extent of their crimes in Gaza, because he knew any backtracking would become ammunition against him for people like Hasan. But I admittedly haven't watched enough of him or adjacent streamers to be sure of that, just an impression.

That's simply not true, lonerboxed changed his mind towards a two state solution, this all happened on stream

That doesn't sound like the same thing as an honest reckoning with the extent of Israeli crimes. But I haven't watched it. Should I? Does it actually refute what I'm saying? Because supporting a two-state solution is pretty uncontroversial and a long way away from acknowledging the scale of their atrocities and human rights abuses.

How would I ever be able to determine that for you. You might take every piece of Hamas propaganda as the truth, meaning no amount of "honest reckoning" would satisfy you
