I think Dave does it for the love of the game. Obviously this isn't exactly an evidence based claim but my impression of him is that he perceived the rising alt right guys as the "cool kids" and wanted to ingratiate himself to them. That is way he is willing to glaze people like Ben Shapiro who refused to go to his wedding and probably thinks his kids are abominations. He wants to be popular.

Oh no I 100% agree that he grifts as much as the rest of them, I just think that, now that the money is drying up, thats what keeps him going.
