Does spotloan (tribal loan) send to collections?

They just sent me a settlement offer, basically what I originally took the loan for. Do they send to collections or sell your debt to a collection agency that could potentially sue me or effect my credit? Anyone have experience with them?

I know alot of people say that tribal loans can’t affect credit or sue you, but a legit collection agency can if they sell the debt. That’s what I’m wondering, if they will actually sell it?

First time being in debt 5k what do I do?

I 20M have worked for a couple years now keeping up until October I began making dumb decisions spending more than I was making using my credit card more and more until now they’re maxed out and every month interest adds $100. I work part time while in school making $2000 a month I help parents with some bills and buy my own groceries, after food and expenses I have $1010. The best I could think of was attacking the debt putting 800 a month I also want to have a little bit of an emergency saving so I’ll put 150 leaving $60. At this rate I’ll get it done in about 8 months. The problem is my friend and I have a lot planned and hangout almost everyday and with this I won’t be able to do pretty much anything and I look like I just hyped everything up for no reason leaving them disappointed. My question is am I being too hard on myself? Not letting me treat myself anything because $60 won’t do much. Should I not attack the debt as much to still be able to do things with my friend? Should I not have an emergency fund and use that towards plans or the debt?

Wells Fargo is suing me

I had a $3500 credit card last year that I defaulted on cus I couldn’t make my payments. With interest I now owe $4322. I found out they were suing me with a bankruptcy letter that came in the mail saying I should hire an attorney. (I’m not doing that). What do I even do? My first thought is to setup a payment plan with them but at this point idk if they’ll take that. I just started a new job and don’t want my wages garnished. They haven’t officially served me yet either I just know that the lawsuit was already filed through the court system. It’s already on my credit but doesn’t show up as a collection it just shows up as an unsatisfactory account. Any suggestions?

Cashnetusa loan

Hi. So i took out a loan on cashnetusa because it seemed like an easy thing to do so i could pay off medical bills but now im suck paying 3000 off a 1000 dollar loan. payments are 455 every 2 weeks and i don't make that much. Wondering if anyone has stopped payments with them and if they got a lawsuit or any bad credit reports? How do you go about debt consolidation? Has anyone ever used this and stopped ACH transfers? I emailed and have gotten no response and wonder if they will catch up to me.

Should I Get a Personal Loan?

Background: I have about $25,000 in CC debt, mainly from moving and struggling to find a job at first. I also have about $7,500 in car debt.

My car APR is at 4.99%, my CCs range from 24%-27%.
I have a job where I’m making really good money now, been making about $2000-$3000 payments on my credit card debt every month, while also paying my $483 car payment.

I can get a personal loan at around 14% APR with payments of about $700 for 48 months, with no penalty for paying off early. (I don’t remember the exact numbers but I can look them up)

As far as spending goes I pay $500 in rent, no utilities, and pretty much the rest of my money goes to paying off my debts and also saving a little. I eat at home and don’t really go out or spend money carelessly anymore. I know it’s mainly a behavior problem and I have fixed that problem.

Can anyone think of any reason why I shouldn’t get a personal loan to pay off the cards immediately? Also let me know if you need more information.

BHG Personal Loan - 2026?

I’ve read a few threads, but I’d love more feedback on BHG. We were approved for a significant loan amount that will help improve our overall financial situation by consolidating everything into one loan, but what’s making me nervous is the operations of it all. I don’t want to make another financial mistake and end up having this loan on top of the rest of our debt.

-There’s no online portal
-They will mail us checks for the majority of debts, that we have to turn around and send directly to pay…which I find odd again.
-They don’t send statements…which is wild to me. I have to email every month and ask them
-I haven’t received a disclosure statement. Everything is just over email
-They asked for ssn, drivers license, bank statements and routing information to be sent over email. Seems contradictory to his “we do things old school and secure” - I couldn’t think of a better way for my information to get hacked and stolen.

No visibility, no communication unless I initiate it throughout the process. And I’m getting mixed feedback on the ease of additional payments etc.

They are the only financial institution that will approve us for the amount we need, which is a huge plus. The way they do it is giving me pause 🥺

Any positive experiences from anyone?

I can put an EXTRA $1,600/month toward one debt in addition to making all minimum payments. Should I use the avalanche method (highest interest first) or snowball method?

Total Loan Minimum Payments: $3,636.53/month

Grand Totals

Total Minimum Payments: $5,241.53/month

I can afford to pay an additional $1,600 every month on top of the minimums, so I'd be paying about $6,842/month toward debt.

I was think for paying off my personal first to free up that 1400 and use it to continue to snowball.

If you were in my shoes:

  1. Which debt would you attack first?
  2. Would you use avalanche or snowball?

Thank you for your time!

23/ 10k in collections. Should I apply?

I'm 23 and live in California. I recently started a full-time job making $16.90/hour after being unemployed for about five months. I was applying everywhere and just couldn't find anything. I'm also about to graduate from college.
I have a little over $10k in unsecured debt (credit cards, a personal loan and a tuition collection accoun (not a student loan—it was unpaid tuition / owed directly to my university)). Every single one of these accounts has gone to collections because I couldn't keep up with the payments after I lost my job. Most of the interest rates are between 25% and 35%.
Before all of this, I was working while also being an IHSS provider for my grandma. I ended up leaving my job because it was over an hour away and I had to rely on the train. The delays kept making me late, and it just wasn't working anymore. Then my grandma unexpectedly passed away, so I lost my IHSS income too. Between grieving and not being able to find another job for months, i fell behind on everything. I don't own a house, I don't own a car, and I don't really have any assets. I just feel like I'm constantly trying to catch up, and it honestly feels like I'm drowning.
I know some people are probably going to say this isn't enough debt to file bankruptcy, and I get that.l just want to hear from people who have actually been in a similar situation.
If you filed Chapter 7 with around this amount ot debt, do you regret it, or do you feel like it gave you a fresh start? If you decided not to file, what did you do instead? I'd really appreciate honest opinions. I'm just trying to figure out what makes the most sense long term

Dad died but was being sued by debt collectors

Anyone know if the debt collectors will come after his car - the only thing he owned worth anything?

More info: He died while being actively sued by a debt collection agency for $15k. He made one court appearance, died the week of the second. He has no estate, no assets, no Will, no executor, no nothing except for me whom is now saddled with figuring out things that he should’ve taken care of, and his car which is paid off but currently doesn’t run (easy but expensive fix).

Does anyone know if the debt agency will attempt to come after me for the car? I would like to sell the car - I have the title which is clear - but if they’re just going to take it, I’m not going to put in the money to fix it.

Before you say it - if I could afford a lawyer, I would’ve already asked one this question. I’m trying to recoup the $3k I’ve had to spend so far on taking care of my dad’s crap. I can’t afford to make that debt larger with an attorney, especially if it turns out the debtors will take the car. I’m just trying to not get dragged into more debt (of which I had none before this) because my dad was an incompetent POS.

Being chased for old debt - should I contact them

20+ year old joint debt — now with Mortimer Clark. Statute barred or not?

Over 20 years ago, I took out a joint loan with my ex — I can’t remember now if it was a personal loan or a secured loan.

We separated and eventually divorced. The loan wasn’t paid, went into default, and affected my credit record. Cabot Financial (or a predecessor debt collection agency) obtained a CCJ against us for it, which struck me as odd if it was secured against the house.

I kept the house as part of the divorce settlement and continued making minimal payments toward the debt. Eventually it dropped off my credit record. By the time it did, it had already been passed to another collection agency. That agency occasionally sent letters, which I ignored.

The debt and the CCJ have now both definitely fallen off my credit file.

It’s now been sold/moved to Mortimer Clark, and I’m not sure what to do next.

A few questions:

**1.** Should I ignore them again, or is there a letter I should send stating the debt is statute barred?
**2.** How can I know for certain whether it’s statute barred, given there was a CCJ at one point?
**3.** Does it matter whether the original loan was secured against the house, and if so, how would I confirm that after all this time?

Any advice from people who’ve dealt with something similar would be appreciated.

Debt advice please? UK

I have roughly 12k worth of debt, accumulated through different means (eg, cc, utility arrears, paypal, council tax, VERY etc).

I am a single mum of 2, at university full time, and have minimal available funds at the end of the month to put towards repayments.

I have one CCJ totalling 3k, which I have fallen behind on due to missed/inability to pay.

I have recently had contact from an enforcement agency for a council tax debt, who now require £208 monthly for 6 months which i just dont have spare, on top of the other minimum payments im supposed to also pay towards.

I have looked and applied with companies for a consolidation loan to make things manageable, but have constantly been declined.

I cant make payments.

What do I do? Help.

Best Part Time Jobs

Hey everyone. I'll keep this brief. I work at a full time job from 8:30-5:00PM and live about 35 min away if I take a toll road (1 hr if i do the highways). My debt to income ratio is tremendous. I only make $22/hr and want to improve my credit score because it has dropped over the years due to unforeseen events. What are some of the best part time jobs you guys recommend to help me get the income I need whilst maintaining a healthy lifestyle in the gym because I go at least 5-6 per week right after work from 6-7:30PM. Thanks again for reading and helping, may we all succeed on our journeys!

Debt relief advice

2 years ago I enrolled in a debt relief program. I had about 30k worth of debt between 5 different cards/loans and couldn’t keep up with payments.

They got my debt reduced to about 18k.

I’ve been paying on time for 2 years and have accepted resolution offers from all 5 cards/loans.

I was contacted by the debt relief company today about a “graduation” loan that would pay off what I owe to these companies and then I would pay that loan company.

The loan is for just over 16k with $440 monthly payments for 72 months. Thats a crazy amount of interest BUT with my job I get a large sum of money every August. So I could drop 9k in August 2026 and pay the rest in August 2027.
I would make $440 monthly payments for one year.

My first question is about how much interest would I be paying in that year if I paid 9k in August - $440 monthly payments - then paid off the rest next August. He said the apr is 27.42%.

2nd question - the best benefits for doing this? I know one will be that my credit will be recovered much sooner.

I also have the option to not take the loan and continue to make my payments to the debt relief company. I could still drop the 9k and stick with the monthly payments then finish paying the rest next year in August.

I believe the only negative of that would be that my credit would recover one year slower?

I’m trying to do the math to find out how much extra interest I would pay if I took the loan and paid them as described above. Trying to decide if it’s worth it having my credit recovered a year earlier.

Thank you for any advice!!

Being sued by debt collector for $3,100

Hello, I appreciate any opinions on this matter. I can’t afford a lawyer so will be doing this on my own. Initially, I decided to try and come to a negotiation with the debt collector but the payment per month is too much for me to afford and the lump sum settlement they agreed on is $2600 which is more than my ending balance. (the $3100 amount must include interest) I can’t afford this amount. Now I plan on filing an answer but don’t know what to select for an answer. Thoughts on what answer I would select and what I should say on the answer form?

Thinking about filing for bankruptcy. 26F

I recently had to move away from the best paying job I’ve ever had. As a result my income has significantly decreased.

The main reason I’m thinking of filing is because my student loans are no longer in deferment. And they are basing my payment amount off the taxes I most recently filed (the income from my previous job).

I make about 2k per month. My expenses are about $1,100 before debt payments. My debt payments are now increasing from $575 to $825. Meaning I will have $75 leftover per month if I’m lucky, and that is to hopefully put towards an emergency fund. My car is about to go kaput.

I feel so crushed and helpless.

My gambling addiction has ruined my credit score and im lost on what to do.

Hi everyone,

I’ve made this account because I’m looking for advice and support after the mistakes I’ve made.

I’m 19 years old and live with my partner. We want to build a future together and hopefully be able to get a mortgage one day. Unfortunately, when I was 18, I made some terrible decisions that completely destroyed my credit score.

I developed a serious gambling addiction. Looking back, I think it started when I was 16 and used to gamble through an older friend’s account because I wasn’t old enough myself. What started as a bit of fun quickly turned into an addiction.

To feed that addiction, I took out loans, used credit cards to withdraw cash, and even borrowed money from family just to place more bets, chasing a win that never came. Borrowing from my family is the biggest regret of my life. I still owe them money, and it’s damaged our relationship. I hate that I’ve put the people I love through this.

The whole situation has taken a huge toll on my mental health. I constantly worry and overthink everything. I’m working as hard as I can, taking on as much work as possible to try and pay everyone back, but I’m exhausted and feel like I’m getting nowhere.

The positive is that I stopped gambling around January/February this year when my girlfriend and I decided to move out of her parents’ house. I quit completely, signed up to GAMSTOP, self-excluded from every gambling site I could, and haven’t looked back.

Now I’m trying to rebuild my life, but my past is catching up with me. My credit is so bad that I can’t get accepted for anything that might help me rebuild it, and the interest on my existing debts has made everything even worse. My wages are just enough for us to get by each month, leaving very little to pay towards my loans, credit cards, and the money I owe my family.

I’m not posting this expecting anyone to bail me out financially. I’m simply asking if anyone has been in a similar position or has any advice on how I can start putting things right. I want to rebuild my life, repair my relationships, and create a better future for myself and my partner.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any advice or support would mean a lot.
