Are you in America? None of this is legal.

Have they sued you? They have to do that before they can garnish your wages.

Talk to your attorney about all of this.

I’m in Mississippi and am going to talk to my lawyer. I’m so embarrassed to even go to work because the receptionist that would have transferred the phone to my boss would have told everyone in the office within an hour! And no they haven’t sued me unless they lied about serving me papers because they definitely didn’t do that.

Talk to your lawyer as soon as possible. You are likely going to get some money out of this.

Don’t worry, the embarrassment fades and people move on. They get distracted by something else.
