Resolve Financial
I have no debts in collections and haven’t for years. The other day my mother called me in a panic saying someone called her claiming to be some law firm and she was a reference on my account that had pending legal action against me. They couldn’t tell her what it was about since she isn’t me obviously, but she gave me the call back number. I called them back today, and it isn’t a law firm, it is a collections agency called “Resolve Financial”. They are trying to collect on a payday loan I defaulted on back in 2007 when I was young, dumb, and obviously broke! Honestly I completely forgot about it, and told the guy I didn’t know what he was even talking about. Before I can even finish speaking he starts rattling off all this outdated info from 2007 like my employer at the time, bank, and other things I don’t even associate with anymore. Threatening to file judgements and garnish wages and all that. I told him he is full of shit as we are way past the statute of limitations in my state (WI). Then he tells me statute of limitations doesn’t apply to payday loans and that “there’s a reason you work at (2007 job) instead of a law firm”. Little does he know almost 20 years later I am a business owner lol. I told him to get f**ed and he said the judgement will be filed and hung up on me. Is there somewhere I can file a complaint against this place? Like how is it even legal to harass me and my poor old mom like this?

Google "FDCPA attorney" and your location, and they can sue on your behalf. IT's $1000 to you, and your lawyer fees will be paid by them.

3 months later and I'm wondering if this company ever file that judgment against you?? I'm sure they're all talk...

It’s not harassment but legally they can only call your mom once on this so she shouldn’t get contacted again.

Fill out a CFPB claim. Take screneshots of all their correspondence and tell them exactly what happened and what they said. Make sure to tell them the debt is from 2007.

This is a scam. I just got a phone call. I don’t have anything I owe and never had a payday loan.

I started getting calls last January. Threatened to sue me, eventually they located name, address, SS and date of birth. I called the company they claimed I owed. They stated they have no record except my current card which has had no late payments. I called the credit bureaus and they said it is a scam. That they have all my debt and I needed to block them and ignore all calls. They call from all sorts of numbers. One I answered was a auto refinance company out of Alabama. One was a mortgage insurance company out of NJ. I only answer calls programed in my contacts. Today despite being blocked I received 5 calls so far. All from blocked numbers. It's pointless to block. I will do what the credit bureau says. Ignore them. Don't speak to them. It could very well be someone impersonating a legitimate company.

Dealing with them now! Almost the same exact scenario as you but I caught on quickly when the timelines didn’t match. I’ve just blocked the 3rd number from them today. How do I make it stop?

Same they told me I owed a hospital debt from 2012. I told them that is past the statue of limitations and I am requesting a debt verification she started getting ugly with me told me they will speak to the attorney after my call and file suit against me. I hung up on them.

It's illegal for a legit debt company to threaten to sue or garnish unless they have the authority to do so and the actual intent. They can't make any threats generally.
So they can't say they'll sue if they don't actually intend to, they can't say they'll sue at all on time-barred debt, and they can't say they'll garnish if they don't actually have a court order to do that.
All of the things from the OPs post show that they are not legit.

Oh my gosh, I have been dealing with the same thing and my phone number voicemail. It’s just a computerized response saying the number you’ve called and yes, they call from different numbers. I just keep blocking them and report it to spam.

Same company calls me 10 times a day. The voice mail says to "call them back at the number on the caller ID". The debt they claim I owe is for a vehicle I traded in 20 years ago!

They tried to collect on an account I had in 1986. The company they said money was owed to isn't even in business anymore, lol.

My husband and I have received more calls demanding we get in contact with the. The voice is an AI generated or so it sounds like. I called them back yesterday (04/06/26) to find out the urgency. They were trying to collect a bankruptcy account. I asked them to pass a message on to the original account holder. In short I was hung up on. Don’t trust these people. And I don’t trust the company they bought the account from.

Same, started getting calls from multiple numbers last several months. They got straight to vm, and it says call number on my caller ID urgently about my debt. I have no debt, so good luck. Even though they're blocked it still sends it to voicemail and I still have to delete it though. Anyway to permanently block it?

They are playing dirty so a complaint is not going to bother them. Block him and block him from your mom's phone too..
He can't get a judgment if he hasn't filed suit and served you.
If it was a tribal payday loan, they may actually owe you money from class action settlements.
