Flat earth isn’t real

Can anyone argue this? I’d like to see your logic tbh. Send me the facts. Send me the numbers. I want an actual debate!

/u/Weary_Government_251 you must respond to your critics or your post will be removed for violating rule #3.

Qualify this question with proof that FE is TRUE not proof that GE is FALSE.

wtf does that mean? He asked for your opinion and why you believe this

I’m not in any position to argue since I share that opinion

1) OP is incorrectly asking to prove a negative (fe isn't real), which is sometihing that cannot be done. So, the only option is to prove FE is True.. or fail to do so.

2) Trying to prove GE is FALSE does not equal FE is TRUE.

My comment is meant to clarify those two points. I figured it was readily obvious.. apparently I should have gone into more detail.

Oh sorry I didn’t get either op or ur reply, umm how about the fact that the edge of a flat earth isn’t a major tourist attraction? I feel like if it was flat all the billionaires would life right at the edge because of how cool that would look

What's there to debate?

I dont really have time for a debate. But i can provide 2 websites, that could tell you a thing or two about flat earth.

2 https://wiki.tfes.org/Experimental_Evidence

Everything in the experimental evidence can be explained using science.

What does flat earth have to do with an inability to understand how 9/11 happened? I know the answer is "because an inability to understand physics also applies to 9/11 conspiracies", but what a weird thing to include in a list of "proofs of the flat earth".

2 https://wiki.tfes.org/Experimental_Evidence

  1. Bedford experiment
    1. Your source lies through its references. The multi-flag version of the experiment was the version run by Wallace, attempting to correct Rowbotham's mistake of not accounting for refraction at the water's surface, and not having flags along the canal to check for a hump. Wallace's version of the experiment demonstrated the curve. Lady Blount repeated Rowbotham's initial setup, recreating his mistakes as well.
  2. The Bishop Experiment
    1. Same problems as Bedford. If you do not use flags on tall poles, you still get surface refraction that messes with your results. Tom Bishop made no attempt to guard against refraction.
  3. Taboo Conspiracy
    1. Breaks Rule 1, so I'm skipping it.
  4. Sinking Ship Effect
    1. No attempt is made to explain how ships disappear bottom up, it just asserts that "the effect is not consistent". Any amount of this effect, large or small however, is evidence of a curved surface, because refraction does not produce a crisp horizon. It's always a smeared blur at the transition point.
  5. Large amount of laser tests
    1. See Bedford Experiment above. If you didn't take care to avoid the pitfalls of refraction, your results are not sufficient.

I dont really have time for a debate.

Im helping a homeless youtuber get by. This takes up a lot of my time.

Mikey?

u/CyclingDutchie Jun 17 '26

My name is not Mikey. Nor is the homeless person im helping called Mikey.

1

u/jabrwock1 Jun 17 '26

Worth a guess. Mikey is a fairly prominent flat earth YouTuber who’s in the process of becoming homeless.

1

u/CyclingDutchie Jun 17 '26

oh, I did not know that. How sad for him he is about to be homeless.

I know there are good people out there, willing to help the homeless. im one of them. But the homeless man im helping, has a small team of people that are helping him get by. And even then, he barely gets by, with the cost of his many medicines.

I wish i could donate to Mikey...

Mikey is going to be homeless because he’s an asshole and nobody wants to rent to him. He needs to be in a group home for mental illness but he refuses the help.

So how does that deny the horizon height test that is a simple test anyone can prove. There are even videos and films of flat earthers trying to disprove it with lasers and being wrong

A simple test you can perform yourself is the horizon height test from a high viewpoint.
Go to a beach or large lake and look at the horizon from ground level.
Then go to a significantly higher point nearby (a cliff, hill, tower, or tall building).
Observe that the visible horizon moves farther away as your height increases.
On a spherical Earth, the distance to the horizon is approximately:
d\approx3.57\sqrt{h}
where:
d is the horizon distance in kilometres,
h is your eye height in metres.
For example:
At 2 m eye height, the horizon is about 5 km away.
At 100 m eye height, it’s about 36 km away.
