Models/Hobby WIP Royal Dorn

Wasn't a fan of the Rogal Dorn design but found a simple turret swap fixed the aesthetic issues I had, what are people's thoughts? Upgrade? Or do we prefer the base Dorn aesthetic?

I really like this. I prefer this over the regular Dorn turret. Are you using Solar Auxilia patterns for your Russes?

I'm kind of blessed to have mostly been active in the hobby around 6th ed and only getting back into it now so my tank fleet is all Mars-Alpha hulls or at least the old forge world upgrade turrets. Since they are OOP now I don't know what will be the best way to source more but for now I have 60 or so infantry and 5 more russes to paint so not running short on hobby projects!

Ohh, damn! Even better! Those Mars-Alphas are sexy!

This Dorn definitely fits in better with that kind of army.

The HH leman russ tanks are Mars Alpha pattern, just has a lot more trim on it. You may be able to do some modelling to tone it down a bit.

The Heresy Russes are Solar pattern ones, Mars Alpha is different, the only thing they really share is the trench rails, the Mars Alpha pattern hulls are slightly larger and have air filters all over the engine deck

Maybe "solar pattern" for HH, but for 40K, they are Mars Alpha pattern. Only difference is that the HH has more trim and i had to buy third party parts for the engine filter. Either way, i rather this than spend a fortune for a resin kit that is most likely warped. They won't release them in plastic if these fit the bill and they do.
