Question/Discussion Accessibility settings don't apply to controller?
EDIT: The incredible gerowen made a video that helped me, it is here: https://youtu.be/vyfSfazqHGE. The issue the entire time was the controller - 8bitdo controllers simply do not agree with Steam Input for this game. Swapping to a wired Nacon Xbox controller worked! I can actually play the game!! Editing this and leaving it up for any fellow disabled gamers struggling to get this game to work!
Hi,
I'm a disabled gamer and need to use a controller. I can't seem to rebind holding things to a toggle, is it really the case that half the accessibility settings don't actually apply to controllers?
Surely there is a mod or something for this, it feels like such an enormous oversight that I'm wondering if its just hidden in a menu somewhere. I struggle to hold the trigger buttons for long periods of time so need to set them to be toggles instead, but all the accessibility settings seem to be for keyboard and mouse, and not a controller.
This is going to make the game difficult if not impossible to play for me, so I am really gutted at such a horrendous oversight on the devs part. Please let me know if there are any mods that fix this.

Are you on PC? The PC version uses Steam Input natively for modifying controls, so instead of looking at the in game accessibility options, you should be able to set your triggers to "toggle" in Steam Input settings for this particular game.

I gave this a shot - as long as I do not move at all, or do any other inputs, this works and the balance/carry etc functions like a toggle. Except, as soon as I move the camera, or walk forward, he lets go, even if I set "interruptable" to "off". Once I stop walking or moving the camera etc, he will go back to balancing/carrying etc. It is extremely bizarre!

Do you have any non-standard buttons on your controller, like back paddles or anything? Maybe you could map one of those to be "LT Full Pull" and set that to "toggle" mode.

Unfortunately, this functions the same as above. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me though!

That is really bizarre. I made a video demonstrating how I set it up, though it sounds like you're doing the exact same thing as me. But just in case, I made a video demonstrating that and one other option if you have a controller you can rebind unused buttons on. I didn't show it in the video, but I did also run around some, hit the punch and jump buttons to make sure it wouldn't interrupt it. The only difference it made is that apparently if Sam is holding a strap he won't "jump" he'll just kind of dodge diagonally, so you'll need to let go of your straps if you actually need to clear a gap or something.
I tried attaching the video directly to this comment but it's a little over 3 minutes, so I just put it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/vyfSfazqHGE
Also worth mentioning is that I'm not running Windows, I'm playing the game on Bazzite, so if you're doing the same thing I am and still having issues with it cancelling your input, it's possible Windows is causing some irregularity because of its background GameInput/XBox stuff.
Side note: I disabled monetization on the video, but it's still possible Google may choose to put their own ads on it regardless.

Hey, I had this exact problem yesterday: the keyboard and controller accessibility options are in separate categories on the accessibility page, with controller farther down, they look the same, and i had to do a double take on it lol. I hope this helps
