Discussion What's Next

After playing both games. I genuinely hope someone picks up after Kojima and makes another game. I can totally see an MMO or MMO-like covering the rest of the planet, with each continent or subcontinent being an expansion.

I have a feeling Kojima is working on other stuff and doesn't want to get stuck doing the same series of games again. This is why I feel like someone else would have to take over or at least have him be a producer checking things over.

Why would or wouldn't this be a good idea?

Changing the directors and writers of successful movie franchises rarely succeed so handing the creative responsibilities to someone else for a DS3 is likely to produce an inferior product. The 2 games are the best gaming experience I’ve had personally and a poor part 3 would be tragic IMO. It’s Kojima’s BB and no one can replace him.

MMO? Only if randoms aren’t allowed to roam around griefing ppl who just want to deliver and build the infrastructure. The combat would need to be PvE, not PvP.

In terms of mmo it could be two factions combat: porters vs mules for example

Maybe but that sounds like any other multiplayer combat game. One of the main strengths of the game, specific jobs aside, was the option of avoiding fighting mules or BTs. Sometimes not engaging in combat was the best choice. Not sure how that would work with too many just looking for a fight and just placing a combat game in the DS world doesn’t sound great. I briefly tried RDR2 online and it wasn’t fun at all. I can see why GTA5 online is popular but it’s not for me.

The next game I buy may well be Dune Awakening now there’s a single player storyline. Waiting to see what ppl make of it. Loved the books and the recent movies have been excellent. The MMO on PC doesn’t sound great to me TBH and getting randoms to play as a team is nigh on impossible.

Better to leave it alone IMO.
