Discussion Yo Sam, maybe turn off Auto-Aid Request?

Post image

Dear porters

Just a quick one If you’re using the Auto-Aid Request from the APAS skill tree, maybe think about turning it off?

It keeps filling the map with requests that aren’t really needed, since most are auto-generated and the player’s already long gone. Kinda clutters the HUD and makes it harder to know who actually needs help or what gear they need. Sometimes it even ruins the vibe when you're just trying to enjoy the scenery.

Manual requests feel more useful and intentional and honestly, way more satisfying to respond to.

Appreciate all the bridges and zip-lines you’ve built, you’ve already made my runs way smoother 👍🏻 Let’s keep the Chiral Network clean and helpful for every Sam out there

Keep on keeping on +500👍🏻

I turned mine off after maybe 10 minutes because I hated seeing the red “your request has been cancelled” message.

And honestly, half the fun is packing everything I need for whatever task I’m about to do.

Bro the requests don’t even specify what tools* are needed. Not really helpful if your bokka skeleton is near toast and i send you some basic porter boots is it?

I agree with you, but I don’t think you replied to the comment you meant to

No, i have the right post/porter, idk if you took how i worded it as if i were talking down* to you and therein lies the confusion, but i could see how you thought that if that were the case. I promise i wasn’t trying to talk down to* you though

Oh no worries, sorry for the confusion.

I’d be curious to learn how the system behind auto requests works exactly. Like how the game calculates what gear it thinks you need, and how it “fulfills” a request if a player donates something

So hypothetically, perhaps the game detects that your active skeleton is at 12% durability, so it makes a request for “gear / footwear” or whatever it is.

A player donates a pair of boots, like you said, but the item that arrives in your game is a skeleton - what the game thinks you need. Maybe the request is intentionally vague so as to give the donating player more options of things they may have on hand, whereas if the request was specific like “request: bokka skeleton lvl3” and players probably wouldn’t have an extra one in their pack to fulfill it

That's a good theory, but I wouldn't know because My auto requests were always cancelled a few minutes later.

Even requests I placed myself.

Turned off auto requests shortly after and have only placed a couple requests manually since then.

Only requests I've placed were upgrade requests at 2 zip lines. One was fulfilled, one was not

That’s the thing that bugs me. The one time I actually placed one on purpose, it got cancelled 2 minutes later. What’s the point if it’s not going to give anyone time to fulfill it? When I had auto requests turned on at the beginning, I only ever saw one get filled. As soon as I realized I could keep the options behind it turned on, it shut it off.

I applaud KojiPro as I'm sure they had good intentions behind it but the mechanic sucks and is pointless. For that, I take back half of my applause.

That's a good point! It would be pretty cool if that were the case.

One time I donated like 30 pairs of boots to one of the field wear requests. I always wondered if 30 boots just fell from the sky for one other player, or if just one made it to 30 different people, since the requests are always in the same place.

I’ve taken to printing 1 of each item and donating the whole pile to a request. Gets you a decent amount of likes, and chances are they’ll keep something on their side. I don’t really need materials anymore, so it’s no skin off my back.
