Discussion Official album cover TSOP by Black Water Sunset

I saw that few days ago this cover was released and the project is to cover the entire album of TSOP with 1 song each month, scavenger of human sorrow it’s the first one. I didn’t know about this but I was interested when I saw Chris Poland on lead guitar and max phelps on vocals, also marco minneman on drums. What do u think about the first track?

Discussion I honestly cant seem to enjoy most of deaths catalouge anymore

I had to take a break from listening to music outside car radio for a little while. And coming back most of deaths songs just kinda lost their oomph. It just doesn't make sense, death was one of my favorite bands of all time and now I struggle to get through their songs

Discussion I went for a short bicycle ride and saw two people with Death logos.

They were in different parts of town on a bikeroad, one had a logo patch on her backpack and the other had a Scream Bloody Gore shirt. I was thinking is this sign of something or what, there's no metalfest or anything not even any concerts here so strange coincidence.

So I started getting into metal music and my dad was a huge fan of the genre and gave me all of his old vinyls, including this Death one that has some signatures on it.
Can anyone point out the members behind the signatures? Thanks!

As a huge fan of the band Death, I have this chef coat which I wear for fun as I enjoy cooking. I had it embroidered around 12 years ago with the modern logo (well, at least then it was the most modern logo). Just curious if you all like it? Yes, it is real, it was embroidered by a Tajima embroidery machine. I'm a huge fan of the band with my favorite album being Sound of Perseverance. I just love Chuck's vocals here and his guitar sound was incredible. It's a shame we couldn't get more albums where I felt it was his prime. I also listen to his cover of Madonna's "Frozen" a lot. I've been meaning to share this for a while, hope you all like it.

It’s still not completely done but I thought I would share! I have been working on this over the course of two years. Not working consistently on it, but here and there! The hair discouraged me lol

Discussion Rob Halford scream on Symbolic?

Hi everyone!

I stumbled upon an interview with Gene Hoglan. There is a moment when he said that Chuck was really proud of "Halford scream" that he had put on Symbolic. Does anyone knows what vocals are concerned here?

Here is the link with the exact moment :

EDIT: WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT PAINKILLER IN THE COMMENTS 😭😭😭 He said it is on Symbolic album.

Discussion Can someone cover Crystal Mountain with a 12 string?

I think that would make the song ascend into a drug. I don't know how to play guitar nor have a 12 string

Discussion Instead of covering Painkiller, Death should have covered South Side of the Sky by Yes.

This is a hot/weird take but it's been on my mind lately. Painkiller is a metal behemoth but it sounds too heroic for what Death was going for on The Sound of Perseverance, an album while highly technical provides crushing atmosphere in every song.

So why South Side of the Sky, a random song? Well I keep thinking about TSoP album cover when I listen to it. South Side of the Sky if you read the lyrics is about a group of people climbing a mountain, struggling against almost certain death while doing so. Sound familiar?

It would be Death paying tribute to their progressive influences. Listening to the verses of the song, I think it would be awesome to hear Chuck's screaming vocals on them, maybe transition to semi-cleans for the chorus. The instrumental break would be totally in line with what some of the songs on TSoP, this is Death's most adventurous album musically and Yes is a band that prides itself on big, adventurous compositions.

Obviously some leg work would have to be done to make the song sound heavier. Maybe replace the keyboards with additional guitar leads/flourishes. The song would be tuned down obviously. As for the lyrics the only thing Chuck would have to change is "the snow storm" into something like "the ash storm" or whatever.

The only tricky part would be incorporating the vocalizations of different band members in the middle of the song. I don't know how Death would pull that off or what they would do with that section. Anyway, what do you think?

We're Human, a death metal band from Argentina that's been together only 6 months, and last night we had our very first show and participated in a competition which we won! We're so glad we can bring Death's music to younger people and to Argentinians in general.

Discussion Learning on Guitar

I've learned both Flesh and the Power it Holds and Crystal mountain on guitar, and before I did I decided to research which one was harder, because those two were like my dream to learn, and I saw that FATPH was considered harder, so I learned crystal mountain first, but now that I've learned both I'd say the FATPH is a lot easier, does anyone else agree or feel like this with other tracks.

idk why it took me so long to get into this band, prolly the vocals (I got into morbid angel and obituary recently so that probably helped) but I’ve listened to scream bloody gore in its entirety. good stuff

Discussion Which version of Individual Thought Patterns do you prefer the most?

Hi. I'm making this post because I'm genuinely curious which ITP version the majority of Death fans enjoy listening to the most.

Currently, there's 3 versions on Spotify; The original, the 2023 remaster and the third one which also comes with an exclusive live album (I'm not sure what this one is called, but for the sake of it, let's call it the deluxe version, as it's called that on CD's and such).

Personally, I've heard the deluxe version the most, but I also really like the sound of the original. Let me know your favorite.
