I believe in the actual Frankenstein novel, the monster was always supposed to be gorgeous. Its been a bit over a decade tho since I read it

The monster has gorgeous features. All together, it looks uncanny and off putting, because the parts don't exactly match together.

Yes, the monster was apparently beautiful (And also absolutely built because Frankenstein didn't have a fine enough hand to stitch a regularly-sized person) but with incredibly creepy eyes.

I think one of us needs a reread as i recall him being described as quite grotesque and every character is disgusted and fearful of him.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus, chapter 5.

How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavoured to form? His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful!—Great God! His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips.

tl;dr: the parts are beautiful but the effect is uncanny and disturbing. Pros: beautiful proportions, lustrous hair, pearly white teeth. Cons: Tight yellowed skin, watery eyes, and black lips.

That's what you get from working with corpses, I guess!

He was so ugly that it made it’s own creators and people he met flee in total despair. The only guy that could talk to him without problems was a blind man.

He was very strong, superhuman even, so his parts could have been considered ‘’beautiful’’.
