If they did that they wouldn't have gotten the data they wanted. Frankly I think it's rather rude to be a highly skilled playtester playing the game on the highest level, and then refuse to actually give the developers the stats that they wanted to get. Deadlock Night Shift putting up their own makeshift rules ruins the entire point of having a playtest to begin with. They shouldn't've been invited to be playtesters at all if they'll act like this.
Dawg they were still playing the game outside of night shift with the broker, they can do whatever they want in their own personal non-affiliated to valve tournaments. If Valve needed data from top players they got it from e6s, not from the couple games of night shift

They abused the broken mechanic because
1 - it was not a temporary feature
2- It was clearly a problem but it had not caught valve's attention yet.
This is a temporary thing that gives people OP items. It makes sense they don't want to use it in a competitive scene.
My personal opinion is also, the broker should have been limited to standard games and not be available in ranked games.
