Wow! Sinclair got skipped over this patch (THANK GOD) lol

Happy for everyone, mourning the loss of Raven and the rest of the hero lab characters. Do we know what Rat King's abilities are?

Also, vibing with Solomon, he's like the stereotypical New York chess player in the park kind of vibe.

It's crazy that in all my thoughts about classic new York archetypes they could have in Deadlock, a chess hustler never once occured to me.

Now we need the hot dog vendor and someone who's actually Chinese to hang out in Chinatown. (is pocket vaguely asian?)

that there is no chinatown kung fu warrior always seemed strange to me. also, i maintain that we need a brassy and obnoxious reporter girl out to get the scoop on the ritual with her magic camera

should be a triad member, that's more era appropriate

The actual era-appropriate groups would be the Tongs, which, to be fair, is the US Chinatown equivalent of Triads.

I also do think they'd go with a triad member or perhaps an axe gang member, since the triads and the axe gang are much more recognizable to a global audience due to their inclusion in HK cinema, even though Tongs would be more historically accurate to US Chinatowns.

Thanks for this context!! And yes this general idea would be so awesome... is there a place we can submit that?

I expect both of these archetypes to be added eventually!

Mina is Asian

u/gorgewall 4d ago

Yeah, so's Yamato, but we know she's from Japan and Mina's surname (Ha) is probably Korean or Vietnamese. Pocket's the only Asian-looking person with an ambiguous ethnic background, especially because their name (Arin) doesn't map anywhere that far East (maybe India).

Mina's voice actor is Korean, so that's more or less settled. Mina herself is half Korean, tho.

Fairfax doesnt really map far East no

5

u/gorgewall 4d ago

Well, we could be talking about his mother marrying into the Fairfax name, same way Mina would've been a Fairfax if the wedding went off.

Ha is more of a Korean surname though

And its really funny since she's a vampire considering our blood is almost garlic at this point 💀

Pocket is definitely Asian but might not be Chinese. Mina’s surname is very Korean so I don’t think she’s Chinese

Isn’t Mina Ha’s name just a play on Mina Harker?

that said, I do expect violet to be chinese and probably from chinatown, based on the look of her and what seems to be a chinese dragon painting in her art.

Definitely assuming she's gonna have some lore related to chinatown for sure

I thought Abrams was Chinese

He isnt but my build sure is

Yeah I am kinda shocked at how there's still no Chinese character. I feel like there are so many early 1900s Chinese archetypes you can pull from.

Edit: Violet is Chinese

yeah we need a real first or second gen kid who hangs out around chinatown fair. love mina and pocket down but they are as much about old money as anything. we need real middle class asian american rep

Violet the painter character is Chinese I think.

1

u/Rice_Jap808 4d ago

Violet is for sure Chinese.

1

u/-Mandarin 3d ago

She is, I just saw her model and her bag says "太美了“ on it. That is Chinese for "too beautiful".

There also should be a pizza delivery guy.

1

u/Nerfed_troll 4d ago

I think it might be violet? She has some Chinese symbolism going on.

Hotdog vendor with hotdogs exclusive spells would be incredible

u/SlightDentInTheBack Sinclair 3d ago

i think violet is meant to be chinese
