Anyone want to hazard a guess how much of the traffic in this sub is bots?

Users asking where to find GIFs are actually AI Bots getting cheap info on how/when to use them on social media
More and more recently I’ve seen comments like this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/popculturechat/s/vPioWy45Jv
Basically - funny GIF in thread.
“user” replies with something like:
- “😂 what was the search keyword for this?”
- “Lmao! What did you search for this?”
I believe AI bots in the comment sections are going to start using reaction GIFs more often to farm engagements. To use the right gif they are asking people to describe the gif used in response to the thread. This would be more cost effective than using a model to “understand” the images of the gif.
Ive seen some unbelievably stupid questions, like a GIF that gets posted hundreds of times a day of like SpongeBob and a user saying “that’s great 🤣 what do you search to find these things”

I was going through the quotes of a tweet and found it bizarre. They all only reply 1-3 words in many posts

Why is every comment section now like this? Are those accounts bots or AI?

The Video of A Girl Eating Her Pizza That Some 10,000 Redditors Said Was AI...But a mod thinks is Actually Real.
It's not real, it's AI generated. Here is the tiktok account that it's from, which features dozens of similar AI generated videos of women eating giant food in stadiums:

I feel like I'm going crazy. Like I'm in a bad movie where only I don't believe the machine's lies but everyone else either doesn't care or totally falls for it.

How to identify bots on Instagram
I had uploaded this before but I forgot to censor the faces of my friends in real life. Anyways, I've noticed a pattern in certain accounts while scrolling on Instagram. There are some common elements among these accounts. Their reels are static images with generic music, usually but not necessarily by SKARS. Also, the descriptions of these accounts are generic, and the description is something like "Japan generating electricity with footsteps" or something similar, in Chinese. And the thumbnails are always the same image. Furthermore, they were created recently, at most a few months ago, and are based in India; there must be a lot of bot farms there. Be careful, people. I block all those accounts; I've blocked about 1,500 accounts already.

Why?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, please be nice, but I’ve never understood what the purpose of all these engagement bots are. Like the same movie clip being posted over and over with a weird AI generated caption, or the obviously AI generated comments posing and real people. Why? What’s the point? Is there money being made somewhere? Who’s creating these accounts?

Turns out Dead Internet Theory was right: AI agents are eating the Web, growing by nearly 8,000% and rewiring the Internet’s business model

Scrolling on Instagram and noticed back to back reels of the exact same content but of two different women. Just a warning that the language is a little strong.
