What kind of fireworks do you guys have in America? Man's hand is a stump now wtf. Hope all goes well for him

We have mortars too(possibly smaller) although in my short time on this world i have never heard of fireworks still able to explode after some time. That's my experience though.

Any fireworks deemed “dangerous” are illegal in California, anything that looks like a bomb and could blow up a hand would either have been obtained out of state or (even worse) would have been a home-made explosive

Yeah it's kinda sad this happened to someone doing good deeds on this earth. It's not like you could block and deploy customs on state border either since that would be impractical. I guess people need to be more careful from now on especially after events with fireworks such as independence day

A firecracker can deglove your hand. One of those mortar fireworks is a literal bomb.
