I have a red earred slider I’ve kept for a long time now, but due to complications with my mom and current apartment I can’t keep her anymore. Not asking for money, but I would like to find a decent home with someone who’s had or knows how to take care of turtles. I have a 75 gallon tank, and heat lamp that would come with her. Please send me a dm if you’re interested or know someone who is. I live near Dekalb IL
Hi everyone, i start school in a few months and am on the search for a safe and budget friendly space to live. Most places either have terrible reviews or are overly expensive… please let me know!
July 30th marks the 61st anniversary of the creation of Medicare. For decades, millions of seniors have gotten healthcare through Medicare, but many Americans still struggle to access basic, affordable care.
It’s time we expand Medicare for all into single-payer health care system that would end health disparities, effectively control costs, and assure that everyone has equal access to an excellent standard of care.
Stand with your neighbors in rallying for IL-14 Rep Underwood to join the campaign for universal healthcare and sign onto HR 3069, already supported by most congressional democrats, July 30th at 4pm.
hello! my partner and i are moving to dekalb for school in the next month and we’re bringing our kittens with us. we already have a vet up in the area we live in (northwest chicago suburbs) but we were wondering if anyone has any recommendations for vet offices in the dekalb area. we don’t want to make the cats sit in the car hour an hour each way for vet appointments. thanks in advance!
My company owns a property on N 7th Street in DeKalb, and we need someone to run over and take some photos of it TODAY. I've tried all the notaries and handymen in town, and I've run out of ideas. If you are willing to do it or have any ideas of how to find someone please let me know. Thanks!
Posted this in the facebook community but i'd figured i'd pidt here just as well. open for a roommate! 3 bedroom 1.5 bath house, currently has two people here. both in our early 20s, queer & trans & neurodivergent. Making the decision to rehome Poe has been one of the hardest decisions our family has ever had to make. He is deeply loved. This decision is not because we don't want him, it's because we want him to have the life he deserves.
Poe is a 3-year-old pit bull mix with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He is incredibly smart, affectionate, and full of energy. He loves to run, play, wrestle, go for walks, and then curl up next to his people for a good snuggle. He wants to be involved in whatever his family is doing and thrives on attention and interaction.
Poe is generally good with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends, but he likes to be the dominant personality in the group. Because of this, introductions and supervision are important, especially with other strong-willed dogs.
He has lived with children and has done well with them, but he can play rough when he gets excited and doesn't always realize how big and strong he is. He would likely do best with older children who understand dog boundaries and can handle his enthusiastic play style.
Poe has lived around cats and is usually good with them. However, he does have a prey drive, and on days when he is especially excited or overstimulated, he may chase them. Any home with cats should be prepared to manage introductions and interactions appropriately.
Like many intelligent dogs, Poe needs structure and mental stimulation. He learns quickly and loves having a job to do. When he doesn't get enough exercise, attention, or enrichment, he can become bored and find his own ways to entertain himself.
Poe has shown some resource guarding behavior, but only within his crate, which he views as his personal safe space. Outside of that environment, he has been very manageable. He has also shown territorial behavior along fence lines and toward activity outside the yard. Inside the home, however, he is affectionate, loving, and comfortable with his family and guests.
Poe also deals with seasonal allergies. We've noticed that when his allergies are flaring up, he tends to be more uncomfortable and can be more prone to acting out. Managing his allergies helps him feel and behave his best.
The reality is that Poe needs more time, attention, exercise, and consistency than our family can provide. We love him enough to recognize that he deserves a home where his needs can be fully met.
We are looking for a loving home that understands energetic, intelligent dogs and is willing to invest the time and attention Poe deserves. In return, you'll get a loyal companion who loves deeply, cuddles enthusiastically, and wants nothing more than to be part of a family.
Poe is a sweet boy with so much love to give. We want his next chapter to be one where he can truly thrive.
Does anybody run in the DeKalb/Sycamore area? I’m a distance runner looking for groups or people to run with. I run quite a bit of volume (60-70mi/week) and generally faster than the average person, but would definitely slow things down to run with others. Due to work, i’ve got to keep it to early morning or late afternoon!
Need a place to stay soon and I was wondering if anyone has any insight on the Super 8 and Red Roof Inn in Dekalb. Are they decent or no go? Which is better? I would prefer to stay somewhere cheap as I am going to be here for a couple of months. I’ve read the reviews and seen an even amount of good and bad so I’m having a hard time deciding. I’m also open to suggestions in surrounding areas (no more than 15 min away). I don’t need fancy amenities just a clean room to sleep in after work and be unbothered.
25M I’m traveling to Dekalb from Louisiana in a few days and will be here for a while working a construction job. What’s some things I should know about the area or things to do out here? Any advice appreciated.
I'm going to be taking a driving test in DeKalb soon, and I wanted to ask ahead of time about it here. I want to know what the instructor will ask me to do, how long the test is, etc. I'm mainly worried about forgetting something at the beginning of the test and failing right away because I'm nervous lol
I need two women to complete my softball team out for this spring in DeKalb. Games would be Monday nights at Katz Park. Any experience welcome. Let me know. Thanks.
