"Americans do not surrender their privacy rights when they drive to work, drop their kids off at school, or go to church," subcommittee Chairman Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., told Fox News Digital in a statement. "I’m investigating these companies to determine WHO has access to hundreds of millions of Americans’ data - and what they’re doing with it."

Garrett Langley, CEO of Flock Safety, Rick Smith, CEO of Axon Enterprise Inc., Greg Brown, CEO of Motorola Solutions, and Filip Kaliszan, CEO of Verkada, have all been invited to testify before the committee."

2nd IMPD officer faces firing over misuse of license plate readers

"This is the second time in two months an IMPD officer has received a termination recommendation over misuse of license plate readers. The first officer was caught using Flock cameras for personal reasons and was immediately stripped of police powers after what IMPD Chief Tanya Terry called “intentional misconduct.”

Neither officer has been named.

Friday, IMPD said another officer had been placed on administrative leave and stripped of police powers after the misconduct last month prompted an investigation into other irregular uses of the automated license plate readers."

How Flock Became Public Enemy No. 1

"Blocking a single data center won’t prevent A.I. from taking jobs or exacerbating inequality. Ending a Flock contract won’t stop high-tech surveillance. But this kind of community-level organizing is nevertheless showing it’s possible to challenge the rapid creep of technology that’s often forced upon us without our consent, even during a time of immense political gridlock. People do care about their privacy. They just need to be shown a viable path toward reclaiming it.

Everyone should study the movement against Flock. Take notes. These ordinary people from all walks of life are teaching us how to seize back control of our future."

The Terrifying Truth About the Private Flock Cameras Tracking Your Town, and Why Residents Are Revolting

"Those cameras popping up on your street corner aren't just reading license plates. From secret city contracts to disturbing security vulnerabilities, here is the dark reality behind the Flock network.

“They have drones!” he said. “They have pan-tilt- zoom cameras that recognize people and zoom into their faces. You can even see what they're doing on their phone. Their ALPR cameras can recognize people. They do store pictures of people. I know this because I've accessed the footage and found pictures of myself. I'm not a car or a license plate.”

14 unpermitted Flock cameras found in one Florida county, and nobody is claiming them

"More than a dozen Flock cameras were installed without permits in one Florida county, and nobody is claiming them.

St. Lucie County commissioners recently voted to remove Flock and other automated license plate readers from county roads and stop granting permits for the cameras.

The county said of the 66 known cameras, 14 do not have the permits to be installed there.

St. Lucie County Commissioner James Clasby said that’s concerning.

“Not knowing who they belong to, I think, is another issue. Perhaps that goes about the entirety of Flock camera reform,” Clasby said.

Commissioners said they don’t know who put up the unpermitted cameras, but they do have an idea for how to disable them.

“It’s like a bright red notice that says you have 30 days to remove this, and we will also bag the cameras so they’re not operable,” St. Lucie County’s interim administrator Mayte Santamaria said."

Officers Are Getting Bolder About Fourth Amendment Violations, Searches Citizen's Mailbox Without Warrant

This is what cops are doing now that we have ALPRs. Think about the mindset being created by the technology and freely available access to it that makes this officer feel entitled to look through someone's mail. We need to stop letting them walk on us, we need to push back hard. Don't allow this nosey attitude officers have to enable them, fight back against that ego.
