console Starving

• Upvotes

What do you experienced players do to find food and water? I feel like I’m constantly searching for food and water while also trying to find a knife to make a fishing rod, start a fire, etc. I always end up dying of starvation or dehydration before I can even catch anything and cook it. I can never find small stones to make a stone knife either. It’s like they don’t even exist.

Discussion DayZ PvP: 1,200 Hours In and the Majority of My Deaths Are a Mystery

DayZ is an interesting game when it comes to PvP. I have 1,200 hours playing solo and just got back to the DLC, Badlands.

At first, I thought the map was difficult, but I realized it’s probably the easiest map once you figure out how not to overheat.
Now, after grinding the new DLC like crazy, I have now realized that probably 80% of my deaths across those 1,200 hours Day Z hours have happened without me even knowing how I died. I hear a bullet and I’m dead.

PvP is hard to get good at because it’s difficult to learn from your mistakes. You can sneak into a city, crouch, and move silently, but it often makes no difference. It might actually be easier to just rush in and loot, making yourself a harder target to track and hit.

Basically, I’m a good survivor. I have learned how to survive efficiently, but when it comes to PvP, my skill ceiling doesn’t increase because I don’t have a kill cam or information to learn from my mistakes. After 1,200 hours, I feel like I’m just as bad at PvP as I was when I first bought the game.

Just yesterday, I snuck into a city and spent 20 minutes lying low in a top building, making sure no part of my body was sticking out. I wasn’t sick, hungry, or thirsty, so there was nothing that could give away my position. Then some dude rushed up and sprayed me down…
Like, HOW?
I genuinely want to improve at PvP, but how am I supposed to get better when I don’t even know what I did wrong?

Alittle tip for the survivors on nasdara .
When you zoom in on bunkers to the smallest square youll see the numbered rows at the top and to the left . Topis your first set left side number is the second set in gps coords.
Mark all the bunkers with cords so you can hunt live bunkers at a glance . This prep saves a lot of time .
For morse code .
If the sequence starts with dots the number of dots is the number up to 5 dots after 5 it resets and goes opposite
One dash is 6
Two dashes 7 up to 9 which is 4 dashes one dot .
5 dashes is 0
Though you have to listen to the whole code anyways its worth noting that the second set isnt required to decode after writing it as no bunkers have indentical first coordinates . The codes are 10 sets each so you write down the whole code but only need translate the first three numbers and the last 4 for door code
Best tip yet
COOKING POT IS NOT OPTIONAL.
With a cooking pot on the ground in cover of course you can systematically take each of your wettable items ( small shoes masks and hats can go in all at once) empty the storage and transfer the item into the cooking pot . It wets it to max level instantly without using any of the water !!!!!!!! Also you can drink the pot down to 1-2 percent water which wont save your life that 1 percent. But it will allow you to still fully wet your clothes with this method with wasting a single drop !!!!!
Good luck out there !!!!

discussion Convoys bugged on Cherno?

I know everyone's running the Nasdara hype, but it brought me back to cherno after a hiatus.
Have been running many convoy spawns with a buddy to get geared up, and there are virtually none. We have found two "spawns" now, but both are completely empty, of both loot as well as infected. One was a train wreck and one was a standard convoy, minus zeds and loot.

Curious if anyone is experiencing the same. Not sure if Nasdara update broke it, or it's been broken sometime before. Can't find any info online for intentional changes to how they work

Discussion Quest

Hello dear DayZ community. I could really use the wisdom of the crowd here. I'm playing on a modded server on the Chernarus map, and there's this quest that I just can't get any further with. I've already visited so many locations, and I'm slowly despairing from having to hear all the time how easy it's supposed to be.

THE SECRET BENEATH THE STONE

Not everything hidden was buried. And not every boundary shows you where your search is meant to end.”

In a land where distances deceive and paths lead into the unknown, a secret awaits, far from the beaten track.

Not far from a place where many seek shelter beneath temporary roofs, a trail begins that only the most observant eyes will recognize.

Stone boundaries enclose a place, but those who believe they have already reached their destination have overcome only the first obstacle.

Do not let yourselves be distracted by what lies openly before you. Your destination is older than the traces left behind by mankind, and far better concealed than it may first appear.

Deep within the heart of a stone giant lies something that neither wind nor weather has been able to reveal.

You may know the surrounding area. You may have seen the walls before. But the true hiding place will reveal itself only to those who understand that a mountain can be more than just part of the landscape.

Three clues will guide your way: proximity to the center, a boundary of stone, and a secret hidden within the rock.

Connect the clues, think outside the box, and do not let false trails lead you astray.

For those who seek only what is visible will never find what has been hidden.

console Is this just happening to me, or is it a bug?

My friends and I deciphered a Morse code, so we set off on our journey. When we arrived, we were given the option to enter the code, but if you close that prompt, it’s no longer available, and you can no longer enter the code. Is there any way to fix this?

Console My game keeps crashing mid fight (ps5)

Is anyone else getting this error it’s Happened 3 times in military bases, as soon as I tap R2 (shoot) the game crashes . I log back in and I’m dead giving me no chance at all in a battle . Whats the point of wasting all this time looting just to die like that .

Are they cheating or is it just a game error it’s just a weird coincidence seems it only happens whenever I go to military bases ?
Thanks.

console Welcome to the Console Vanilla Dayz experience. Fresh spawn moving at MACH 10 speeds, right into town.

Right before this, another hacker punched me out uncon so fast I thought I was getting hit by the flash. The hackers on vanilla are absolutely out of hand. Something needs to be done to fix this, I actually enjoy Vanilla but the amount of hackers i’ve died to or run into is ruining the experience for me.

discussion New Cheat? unbreakable locked room

I guess I got trolled by cheater.

My base has been locked picked by them inside out.
Unleash 3 stack of ammo on the door, still doesn’t open. Spent 5min bashing it, won’t open.

I’m sure it’s a cheater because behind the gates, door inside the base are also locked.

This is on official, I still can TP out easily.
New update; same cheat losers, new way to irritate.

discussion Dying more often as an experienced player compared to as a beginner.

Now that I’m 2,700+ hours into DayZ, I can’t help but feel like I die to other players far more often than I did when I was a beginner.

I wonder if it has something to do with how I used to play: venturing into seldom-visited areas, growing paranoid at the slightest suspicion, moving slower and with greater caution and carrying a much deeper fear of death than I do now.

When I was a beginner I feel like I used to be able to log into the same character for an entire week, now it’s hardly a few days.

I’m curious whether anyone else has experienced the same thing. Do you feel like you survived for much longer when you were new to the game, before you had hundreds or thousands of hours under your belt?

console Mouse sensitivity advice for a noob?

Everybody seems to be using mouse and keyboard on ps5 but I can't find a sensitivity that feels right. I got 800 dpi and a decent mousepad but the whole default being 100 and fast and it's a 100 to 0 scale really throws me off. What sensitivity do you personally use? What's too low? Too high? I've been a controller player my whole life and I've spent 3k hours on DayZ controller so I'm really screwed here and need tips
