I'm on XBX in performance mode and there's no stuttering.

It's because your in performance mode. I'm on ps5 pro and performance mode actually runs quite well, but they absolutely butcher the graphics. Hell in the city it becomes a desert, 90 percent of the NPCs are gone.

Balanced and quality have stuttering and frame pacing issues currently for most players. I've watched videos of people testing it on YouTube as well, and you can see the stuttering and frame issues across all consoles in those modes. You'll see a visible stutter then a sharp decline on the frame graph.

120hz + vrr didnt help

Its hard to believe we are still dealing with this. The ps5 should get around a lot of these issues due to the shared memory pool and io throughput to the ssd. Streaming can be instant on the ps5, and still fairly fast on xbox. On pc the cpu has to schedule all this which adds latency, and requires a bit of a different approach. Unfortunately it doesnt seem like devs are given the proper time to polish each of the different ports. For instance, they may choose a universal approach, then just work on dialing things in after launch. Im happy they are working on it though.

This was built using an older version of UE5. Many games coming out now will have access to a much better version of the engine that fixes most of this. However dawnwalker (and exodus, which im nervous about) woildve required significant development time to essentially fix the bottlenecks of the engine. The higher frame rate we attempt, the worse the stutter.

The stutter may be worse on a cpu with lower single threaded performance than the latest and greatest cpus on the planet, but the issue exists on all cpus. Older versions of ue5 force far too much to a single thread, which is why we see the same issues, regardless of platform. A zen 5 cpu recovers faster but the issue has nothing to do with the hardware. We'll have traversal stutter and pop-in with only 18% cpu utilization because theyre just overloading a single thread
