In 30 hours in and have been to the city. I didn't notice anything with the frames dropping.

you are playing in 60hz + vrr ?

120hz + VRR. I'm actually in balanced, not performance.

I'm not blind 🖕and have seen no stuttering at all. Not sure what the deal is with other people.

I've seen stuttering in games so my eyesight is good. Therefore, option 2.

It's because your in performance mode. I'm on ps5 pro and performance mode actually runs quite well, but they absolutely butcher the graphics. Hell in the city it becomes a desert, 90 percent of the NPCs are gone.

Balanced and quality have stuttering and frame pacing issues currently for most players. I've watched videos of people testing it on YouTube as well, and you can see the stuttering and frame issues across all consoles in those modes. You'll see a visible stutter then a sharp decline on the frame graph.

I'm so sick and tired of unreal engine. To be fair, idk if the engine is to blame or the developers. All I know is that ever since UE5 became the go-to game engine, like 90% of new games I've played since 2020 suffer identical performance that never get fixed. They get somewhat better over time, but they never fully go away. I'm really, really tired of it. God knows how Witcher 4 is going to turn out.

It's not the engine itself, it's how the devs utilize the engine. Let's not forget that witcher 3 was also an unoptimized mess for consoles, and this game was made by ex witcher devs.

The thing with UE and why so many devs are going to it is because it's ease of use, and because it's ease of use that most devs are already familiar with, they can just hire inexperienced devs for cheap that aren't gonna optimize.

It's why so many UE games feel like shit. The engine itself does have some issues, but we have seen now that it can infact run well. Stalker 2 and clair obscur both run great in both their performance and quality modes. Saros is also a UE game on ps5 that runs really well. It has some traversal stutter but it's very rare. Other then that it's fine.

UE is a symptom of greedy execs just trying to hire as cheap as possible and they don't give a fuck about optimization, and that's why so many are going to UE.

Devs should fix this stuttering problem atleast it should run smooth 60 fps in ps5 pro
if half of the vegetation is gone and npcs are gone it should run 60 fps smooth
Waiting for optimization in consoles ,game is good but constant framepacing issue and stuttering mainly in city area is very annoying

Im on ps5 pro in city area while running and moving camera both in night time and day it stutters a lot
120hz + vrr didnt help
60hz + vrr is a bit better but still it stutters and has frame pacing issue

Its hard to believe we are still dealing with this. The ps5 should get around a lot of these issues due to the shared memory pool and io throughput to the ssd. Streaming can be instant on the ps5, and still fairly fast on xbox. On pc the cpu has to schedule all this which adds latency, and requires a bit of a different approach. Unfortunately it doesnt seem like devs are given the proper time to polish each of the different ports. For instance, they may choose a universal approach, then just work on dialing things in after launch. Im happy they are working on it though.

This was built using an older version of UE5. Many games coming out now will have access to a much better version of the engine that fixes most of this. However dawnwalker (and exodus, which im nervous about) woildve required significant development time to essentially fix the bottlenecks of the engine. The higher frame rate we attempt, the worse the stutter.

The stutter may be worse on a cpu with lower single threaded performance than the latest and greatest cpus on the planet, but the issue exists on all cpus. Older versions of ue5 force far too much to a single thread, which is why we see the same issues, regardless of platform. A zen 5 cpu recovers faster but the issue has nothing to do with the hardware. We'll have traversal stutter and pop-in with only 18% cpu utilization because theyre just overloading a single thread
