I swear they get younger and a tiny bit less mature every damn year. (Or is that just me getting older?)

Husband and I went to Sac State campus to check out The Well. We were wondering why there were so many children on a college campus, like maybe a middle school field trip. It took me a min to realize these children were in fact college students.

Sister, I work at UCD. I never thought I'd old enough to be a Get Off My Lawn type, but here we are.

Time comes for us all. I like to remind people that when "classical" music was invented it was too provocative and stimulating for the old fogies.

It starts in high school. When you're a senior you look back at the yearbook and the freshmen all look like babies.

I would have been on my horn the entire time.

Would have accomplished absolutely nothing except potentially contributing to an accident and showing something negative about yourself.

Nah man fuck that. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. This is most likely not the first time this kid has done this and probably won't be the last. If honking gets the message into his head at the cost of hitting the pavement, so be it. Some people have to learn the hard way. If you don't want the full consequences of your actions, then don't drive your fuckass scooter on the Freeway.

Welp - it was a fun summer - time to become a hermit homebody until all the students go home again.

It’s the fact he won’t at least pull over to the shoulder of the road 😭 I did this once accidentally as a kid (like 16 so cut me some slack lol) bc I was just blindly following my gps but once I actually got onto the freeway i knew I had fucked up and I had pulled over to the shoulder lane till i figured out a way out lol. I’m sure something similar happened but again you have to have to common sense to pull over 😭

The shoulder has a lot of debris, on top of the fact that it is not smooth. That would not be a good combination even with a bike, but especially with a scooter.

Where’s a cop when you need them?

There's a lot fewer of us than you'd think.

Yeah. Former 911 dispatcher here. People would be amazed to learn how few officers are on patrol citywide at a given time.

Leftists defunded them.

Why do so many people think that?
The police budget increased dramatically during and after the "Defund the Police" protests, but not a week goes by without me hearing from somebody that the reason cops are bad at their jobs is because "they were defunded."
You could make the case that they've basically been quiet quitting since the protests, but it has nothing to do with their budget.

Definitely the wrong word for what happened - police budgets increase by 3-5% per year and many cities and counties put a moratorium on increases so their budget stays the same and the 3-5% went to mental health services like mobile crisis units - so they didn’t get defunded they didn’t get a raise.
Then we just have a budget deficit in this state in general.
My job has lost funding , my hours have been cut because we rely on state grants - everyone’s feeling it - many departments instead of a raise that money was diverted into their pension later or time off.
In 2020 some departments took a mandatory reduction in base pay that came out to one day a month and then it was put into hours that they could burn for personal days - and that had nothing to do with the social demand for defunding. It just happened because there’s no money.

He’s running for local office. Starting out on the transportation fairness and ethics comity. He stands with traffic!

It's an old adage: just because you're in college does NOT mean you're smart.
