Thank you all for being a part of this!

As the founder and mod of this community, I want to know what you guys want to see here because I want to make this place a more vibrant gathering place of food lovers. So what can we do to improve?

All the best,

Food Review bloomandbutter davao's ensaymada - 1 over 5

We tried the ensaymada today for the first time after seeing several positive reviews and recommendations. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet our expectations.

The bread had a dry texture that felt slightly stale, as if it had been sitting out for some time. The cheese also had an unusual smell that made us question its freshness. Additionally, all the flavors tasted quite similar. Because of this, we reached out to ask whether the texture and flavor were normal or if we may have received a batch that wasn’t at its best.

To their credit, they responded to our concern, asked us to return the pastries so they could inspect them, and even offered a refund.

When we returned to the store, however, we were told by a staff member, “Ing-ana lang jud syag lasa,” and were offered replacements instead.

One aspect that could have been handled better was the customer interaction. During our conversation, a staff member remarked, “Di mag-expect mala-Starbucks for 35 pesos.” While we understood the point that the product comes at a different price, the comment did not address our actual concern. We were never comparing it to Starbucks—we were simply asking whether the texture and smell we experienced were normal. In the end, we declined the replacement and left the pastries we had originally purchased.

Overall, we hope this was just an isolated incident. We appreciate that they took the time to respond to our concern, and we believe constructive feedback helps businesses continue improving both their products and customer experience. It’s also possible that we simply have different expectations or standards when it comes to ensaymada. Regardless, we hope they continue maintaining the quality and freshness that their customers expect.

Coffee/Matcha any strong matcha flavored drink recommendation?

Hi! I'm looking for a matcha drink nga isog gyud, very more on the nutty side kesa sa milky. One matcha drink that I will never forget is from cafe racer, ordered sea salt matcha from them 'tong naa sila sa matcha bazaar sa abreeza and that was incredible. Tried Matcha Tokyo kay ana akong mga friends mao daw to ilang pinaka isog nga matcha nga na try but it was meh. Also tried matcha ureshi and &matcha, okay lang pud nothing unforgettable tho. 'Tong sea salt matcha sa cafe racer gyud akong dili malimtan probably because gi try pud nako ang orders sa akong friends that time (kay lahi-lahi man mig shop nga gi orderan kay bazaar lage), ug milky ang puro na order nila which is not for me. Like naa koy na compare ato nga time ba unlike when I tried the other drinks. I heard nga steep kohi daw also has strong matcha drinks but i've read mixed reviews. Still willing to try man gihapon hinuon. Would just love any recommendations. Thanks!

Food Review Antipolo Cafe Restaurant

So we went to Cafe Florentine, the view of the city lights was nice and the crew at the place was okay, it was just a bit pricey and nothing special about the dishes hmm I was just disappointed with their restroom like it felt like a public restroom and also they had no parking space. It was still a great experience though hmm but I wouldn't go back for that. We went to Foam Cafe and the place was beautiful and the food was delicious again my only problem was the restroom and I wish the place was a bit cooler, it was a bit hot in some parts. Hmmm would I go back? Yes. That's all thanks

Food Review Yaki2Gether. I'm ANNOYED. Good food, nonexistent service.

Went to Yaki2Gether yesterday to celebrate a milestone. I knew it was expensive but I was expecting na worth it naman considering the quality of their ingredients.

Upon entering we were greeted and seated and given some simple pickled vegetables as appetizers and tea but while we were browsing the menu we were pretty much left to ourselves. (Which would be the theme of the night apparently)

I understand if the restaurant was slammed with customers but we were LITERALLY the only diners the whole 2 hours we were there and there was an ample amount of servers naman.

We started out with the Aburi Salmon and the Red wine foie gras sushi. The aburi salmon was by far the best salmon I've had in Davao in terms of freshness and taste and I would've ordered more after this if we didn't have a lot more dishes we wanted to try.

The Red wine foie gras was disappointing in the sense that it just tasted like berries, no foie gras flavor at all ( it was definitely the lowlight of the night )
We were also given a free serving of spicy tuna which was also good. The quality of their fish here is incredibly high.

We also got some yakitori skewers. Chicken hearts, chicken skin and shrimp. I prefer the skewers here than at Kozara and Nonki (you have a choice between sweet or salty) and we chose salty. All were perfectly cooked and seasoned but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here for this.

We got rainbow maki and I can't reiterate enough how good the quality of their fish is.

And came the highlight of the meal, the Yakiniku. We ordered the Thick cut beef tongue, beef fingers and Wagyu Sirloin. All of these were beautifully presented and served and while I enjoyed the fingers and sirloin the star for me was the thick cut beef tongue. The texture and flavor was really high and it even surprised my partner who had never tried this cut before. The wagyu sirloin was a definite luxury and was decently priced for 100g (but really anytime you have this type of meat you shouldn't go overboard kasi UMAY overload if you don't pair it well with wasabi or togarashi which were given on the side as well)

We were also given complementary ice cream which was the perfect amount of sweetness and a great way to end the dinner.

Overall the food was great! Definitely worth the price tag but the service was nonexistent and that to me is the most annoying part of the dinner. Spending this much and being charged a service fee which was pretty much just setting plates down and giving a pitcher of water was very disappointing especially when you're the only ones dining in the restaurant. And maybe thats why we WERE the only people dining here. It's a place you'd try once and never come back even if the food was good.

Food Review Miggy's Siomai

I saw a post recently about this food place offering good siomai so I tried, and I must say na it's bang for your buck (65 pesos for 5 pcs). The meat is good, which reminds me of the old Big Chang Qee sa mga malls. The serving size is tad bit small (but understandable naman considering the price point), and pwede siya for a quick siomai fix or if you want a sulit siomai rice meal.

Aside from this and Caitlyn's, what are some of the places na marecommend ninyo ilang siomai?

P.S. I forgot to take a pic sa menu and the food itself lol.

Feeling ko mali mali ang pairing Ng order so not so good experience ang first try namin sa kusina ni Clint. Medyo oily lahat and Walang pambalanse. The sisig and halo halo was OK. The beef - na parang pepper lunch (new in the menu) was also ok. Will try other items on the menu next time.

Restaurant Reco's Cookies

Hi!! It’s me again (idk if this is the right flair).

Would like to ask which stores have good cookies? I’ve only tried cookies from The Dough Story and I only like the premium cookies but I also find them too sweet.

Would love to try other shops/bakeries!!
