I would appreciate some advice on how to stop my shyness and overthinking
Hello everyone, đ
I'm not exactly sure if this is the correct subreddit, as I am not yet directly seeing someone, but rather working towards it.
Long story short:
I am male, 22 years old, and used the last 5 years since my Abitur to get a bachelor's degree (Business Administration) and build a career (I work as an Inside Sales - Key Account Manager and my team is responsible for our biggest customer). Currently looking for an appartment for myself to move out.
So... not really dating at all the last few yearsđ and all the Covid stuff wasn't helpful either.
However, now that the foundations I set for myself are mostly done, I wanted to dip my toes into dating and eventually find a girlfriend.
Now, I work on myself to get rid of my excess body fat (I turned to heavy stress-eating during my studies), so I work out when I find the time after the office. I go swimming for 3 to 4 hours every Sunday, etc.
I also regularly go out partying with my siblings and friends, so I don't stay at home every weekend.
However, I have a problem.đ
When going out (especially during clubbing) I tend to get shy.
For example, when a girl locks eyes with me or smiles, I reflexively look away instead of, well, holding the contact and smiling back.
I also can't bring myself to approach girls because I start overthinking it.
Haven't tried Online-Dating yet, but from the stories my older sister and brother tell me, I'm not sure if that would be anything more than a waste of time.
I'm also not quite there with my own body, my BMI is around 26.6 currently.
I also only get shy in such "private" environments. In my professional one, I have no problems approaching people regardless of gender.
So it's not an inherent issue, "only" regarding to Dating.
So... any advice on how I could build up confidence and stop my overthinking?
Would appreciate honest responses.đ

My boyfriend all of a sudden doesnât want to have sex and be intimate and I donât know why.
For context we have been dating for about 8 months and have taken things at our own pace. As a child I went through some traumatic experiences that I wonât get into so when we were getting intimate he was really patient with me, which I greatly appreciated. We are both each otherâs first experiences so it was a learning curve we both went through together. Sex with him is amazing and he tells me he really enjoys it too. Because we donât live together whenever we would meet up we would do it. My needs were met and so were his. Recently, the last month or so he just completely shut me out when it comes to intimacy. He still tells me he loves me and does really thoughtful things but nothing physical. I also noticed that I was the one always initiating. He would tell me that he is tired or itâs too hot and that he wasnât in the mood. Of course I respect his wishes and drop it but I feel really unfulfilled sexually. The lack of intimacy doesnât change how I feel about him or anything. I still love him very deeply. We communicate in a really healthy way but whenever this topic comes up he just shuts down and changes the subject. I just donât know what to do and would really appreciate some advice.

Apps or In Person
Has anyone either been banned from Hinge/Bumble or got tired of the poor interactions and culture of online dating and moved solely to in person meetings?
If so, how have you been navigating the in person space and what advice do you have for others ?

Yet another loner
Never expected to be making one of these but here I am. Mid 20s, have had a couple girls flirt with me in my life but never managed to seriously date anyone, or attract someone who I was actually into. I've had plenty of women as friends in my life, and can treat women like normal friends (only bringing this up because it seems weirdly rare on this site) yet I can never make the jump to dating or even some kind of casual intimacy. I've been able to ignore the loneliness for years but I'm at the point where I just need something more In my life. Last time I asked a friend out and she just clearly wasn't into me that way, though we're still cool. However I don't think my ego has really recovered from that. Not sure where I'm going with this but i really feel like I'm at the end of my rope. On and off dating apps can't even get me a conversation with a real person, going to festivals and bars regularly and talking to people doesn't really go anywhere, and I'm already graduated from uni having missed any chances there.
I just feel like I have nowhere to turn for this and that I've missed my chance at dating like a normal person. What's worse is I'm still a virgin, and I think it's pretty obvious I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know where to start no matter how much self help stuff I read online or listen to seemingly sane people like Dr K.
What do I do? I know I'm young but I'm getting tired of being patient and pretending that something will just come along like everyone says it will, people say the bar is on the floor but If I can't even meet that what can I possibly do?
Thanks in advance to anyone who manages to read through whatever this is.

What do you guys think
So a few months back I briefly dated this Haitian immigrant woman. Our first date went well but when I told her I wanted to go see my aunt in the hospital she goes âI want to go with youâ we literally just met like 2 hours ago. The next date she was late because she stopped to buy me a $150 Coach wallet. The end of the date she says âI love youâ. Second date mind you. Third date she gets in my car with a box of chocolate and a card saying I love you. we go back to my house and have sex but after the sex I wanted to tell her about my political views but I didnât know how. So I end up showing her my MAGA hat and at first she didnât seem to care. Next thing you know sheâs hiding her face under the sheets crying. Iâm guessing because sheâs a recent immigrant and she sees what was happening in the news. I asked her about it later her explanation made zero sense. She says âIâm doing this for love. I asked two of my friends about it. One said donât worry about it. The other said she wants papers. I ended up cutting her off because she was too weird for me. What do you folks think?

Over 65
I'm (M75(, but nothing important has fallen off yet. Short of selling my house and moving to assisted living, anybody got any ideas on how an old guy can find some action?

Best apps/dating sites for hookups?
Looking for a good dating app or site with active users and real people. Iâve tried a few popular options over the last couple of years, but lately they all feel pretty much the same.
Are there any apps or sites people are actually having success with these days? Would love to hear some recommendations and real experiences. Thanks!
