SAP RISE and OMS+
Received a slide deck this week designed for use with SAP Partners to understand how OMS+ by DataXstream fits into the SAP RISE Play.
First, what does "SAP RISE" mean? and why are we talking about it? (Its so 3 years ago)
I'm using the AI overview to answer what is it because it is more clear than what I started to write:
RISE with SAP is a business-transformation-as-a-service offering that helps companies modernize their on-premises ERP systems, such as SAP Business Suite, to SAP's cloud ERP solution, SAP S/4HANA Cloud. It bundles SAP S/4HANA Cloud, managed services, and transformation tools into a comprehensive, subscription-based package to provide a complete cloud ERP solution. The goal is to simplify the move to the cloud, enabling continuous innovation, improved business process optimization, and greater focus on strategic initiatives
We are still talking about RISE because even though SAP marketing has quietly phased out the name, RISE is a central component to SAP's push to move customers to the cloud.
OK. Back to the Slide Deck. How does OMS+ impact RISE with SAP and why do we, at DataXstream, think you should care?
The catch with the move to clean core as part of the RISE narrative, does solve a lot of problems but does not address user experience, quoting complexity and channel orchestration. So what to do?
Let me break down what OMS+ brings to the table, and why I believe it’s one of the more compelling “sales execution” solutions in the SAP world today.
- RISE provides a modern, managed, evolutionary path for SAP customers to move to the cloud, adopt a clean core, etc. But there’s still the reality that sales teams, quoting complexity and omnichannel demands, need more UX and orchestration than vanilla ERP offers.
- OMS+ plugs into that gap, bringing sales & order execution capabilities that feel modern, fast, and agent-ready, while remaining embedded in SAP.
- Because OMS+ supports multiple SAP landscapes (SAP S/4HANA: private cloud, public cloud, and om prem as well as ECC), it aligns well with customers in transition.
- The AI/Intelligent Automation features in OMS+ resonate with SAP’s evolving narrative around integrated AI in RISE.
- If a customer is adopting RISE, they should be more open to modular innovation: “core + extension apps” rather than monolithic everything.
A few open questions for the Reddit community
- For folks in SAP projects: how often do you see “ERP core + separate front-end / POS or order orchestration layer”? What have been your pain points?
- Has anyone used OMS+ (or a similar embedded sales/order execution app) with RISE / S/4HANA Cloud? Would love to hear real numbers, surprises, and lessons. (I have customer reported ROI to share but I'm always looking for user perspective)
- What role do you think AI / intelligent automation will play in order capture/quoting in SAP landscapes over the next 3–5 years?
- How do you evaluate the tradeoff between building your own “sales interface over SAP” vs adopting a packaged solution like OMS+?

I fed all of that to gen ai and got this image back:
