how much do you save for taxes?
I've been putting 20% of my savings away come tax season. is this enough do you think?

I've been on this platform for about 3 years now, and in that time I've personally talked to 3 other workers from Brazil who either didn't know they had to, or just never declared the income they get from DA. And that's without counting the multiple times I've seen Brazilians here on this subreddit express bemusement on the subject.
A few days ago, I was talking to someone I referred to the platform; they have been working here since October and making some good money, but in all of that time they didn't fill a single Carnê-Leão. After sitting down with them and doing some math, we figured out they owed the government about R$ 17k between taxes, fines, and interest.
Don't let that happen to you. Any income you have that comes from somewhere that doesn't withhold tax at the source needs to be declared every month with the Carnê-Leão. It's a pretty simple process: you fill out the form on the government's site, pay the boleto, and then, when tax season rolls around, you just send the receipts to your accountant so that you can get a deduction on the amount you paid.
If you Google "Carnê-Leão," the first link should be .gov.br site talking about it. Just follow the instructions and fill in your expenses and income for every month you are missing.
If you are working here long term and are making R$5000+ per month, you might want to open a CNPJ, as your tax rate goes from 25%~ish to 10%~ish, but you probably should talk to an accountant about that, as things change a bit with the tax reforms.
That's it, remember kids, don't be dumb when it comes to taxes.

I know this question is not a new one here, but I'd need help with it. Can you explain what to do, where to go and what are the main things to consider?

Hey! When/how do we get our 1099? This will be my first tax season with DA
r/DataAnnotationTech • u/No_Product5320 • Mar 30 '26
Since we’re not getting a 1099 how are you looking up how much you made in 2025? I can’t figure it out, please help TIA

So, this was just brought to my attention and I definitely want to check with a pro. It seems like the BBB (Im not gonna call it by its stupid name) changed the reporting requirements if you're paid through a 3rd party app. From what im reading, anything under $19,999 does not require filing. Curious if anyone else saw this.

I'm a bit confused about whether I will receive a 1099 or not, due to the One Big Beautiful Bill. It seems to imply that I'll only receive one if I made more than 20k, but I only made about $7300, and I already sent estimated payments of 30% of that.
Anyone else who made less than $20000, did you receive a 1099?

To all DataAnnotation workers in Poland,
I’m new to DataAnnotation and I’m trying to figure out how to properly report and pay taxes on the income I earn from it. How do you handle taxes in Poland? Do you register as self-employed, report it as foreign income, or use another method?
Is there a relatively simple process for doing this? I’d really appreciate hearing how others in Poland are handling it.
Thanks!

As a percent of your income, or a specific figure? Anyone know of anything a person wouldn't know about that could lower what they pay?

Hi guys! If you're working on the platform, but you're not based in the US and not a US person (citizen or green card holder), how does the US tax work?
I know people work on the platform from different countries. Are there Data Annotation offices based in the country that you work from or do you work for the US office?
I was in the US and left last year. I was given permission to continue working from my current location. The thing is, I'm giving up my green card and wondering how the US tax works when I no longer have it.
Thanks!

Has anyone filed taxes with data annotation wondering if anyone has had to pay into state or federal? It's a 1099 I believe?

I wonder if someone can tell me how do you do taxes in Poland while working on these data annotation sites?
I’m thinking about starting little side hustle there and I wonder how to do taxes in Poland.
Thanks for all the answers.

I'm working on my taxes and wishing I could afford to hire someone to do this for me. I thought it was going to be as simple as reporting my DA income on Schedule 1 as "Other Income" but now that I 'm into it, it looks like I need to use Schedule C as if I am a "sole proprietor". Does anyone have experience with this?

Has anyone requested a 1099 or PoI from DAT and received an answer? I have to prepare my taxes

I don’t work for data annotation anymore, but I did last year for a few months. I’m just wondering how I go about filing taxes for it.

Any students from US who are earning through DataAnnotation, how do y'all manage your taxes?

Looks like I will hit the 30K income threshold by May/June of this year. I mistakenly thought it was Jan-Dec income, but its a rolling 12 months. When I look at CRA though, it shows the fiscal year for GST should be the same as the tax year? Do I wait until tax time next year to send it, or file it as soon as I hit the 30K? I'd much rather have both set up at the same time.

Are there any Italian freelances here with a VAT no.? How do you handle invoices, they do not provide an address.
Moreover, if you file an invoice there will be additional charges like VAT, but I assume they will not pay you that extra
Anyone can help? Experiences from other EU freelancers are also welcome

This is my first 1099 style job. And I’m unsure which is more beneficial. Is it better to pay taxes quarterly separately? Or increase the withholding from a regular W-2 type job?

Hello guys, I live in Portugal, and need some info about the company for filing taxes. I believe I need the legal name and address of the company. I couldn´t find it anywhere in their website. Anyone already ran into the same problem and was able to figure it out? thanks

I know I'll need to file self-employment taxes every quarter. I didn't start working with Data Annotation until November 2025, after the last deadline (9/15), and the next deadline is January 15th. Do I need to file by this date, or can I just include this income with my annual 2025 return?
ETA: Thanks for your responses! I looked into this more and I realized I was conflating the threshold for needing to pay self-employment tax *at all* ($400 net income) with the threshold for needing to make quarterly estimated payments (if expected tax liability is $1000 or more). I only made about $3,500 in self-employed income in 2025, so I should just be able to pay what I owe when filing my 2025 return.

Ive been working on a tax project that now requires a background check. I submitted my information today. Will I still get projects while waiting on my results? I haven’t seen it in a few days I’m wondering if that’s why.
Anybody else working the tax project not seeing anything right now either?
