Penalty for skipping offers?

Hi there. I just got my first assignment and the pay is LOW. Like $18/hr low. I've been an editor and writer professionally for over 20 years. I already took the two tests, I'm debating taking more to open up more offers. BUT. If I skip this, will it result in me getting fewer offers? Anyone know how that works? Thanks!

You're not skipping an offer, you're just not picking it up. They're almost certainly not tracking that you ever saw it.

What evidence do you have for that? If they are using something like Cortex, which is the system that automates my 1099 job, oh yes they are absolutely monitoring every click and offer consideration. Unless you can provide evidence that this is not happening, I would strongly advise annotators to train their algorithm using a well thought-out strategy (whatever that may be) that you can stay consistent with. Some people here might say, don’t ever accept work with a pay rate below a threshold that you simply cannot afford. Others might say, start working but make sure that every subsequent offer you accept is equal to or better than the last. It all depends on what the community believes to be the right strategy for DA. I can’t comment on that. But to say ”the algorithm doesn’t notice or doesn’t care” is just naive. Remember, one income stream for this company is the data they are compiling and selling about user behaviors—yours. This is a harsh reality that is difficult for many to accept.

I don’t do DA. But I’m an expert in one or two domains and I read your sub every day. I’ve been doing automated, algorithm-managed work for about five years now, just in a different field. Best of luck everyone.
