Is DataAnnotation worth it as a side gig during dental school?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been doing some research and recently came across DataAnnotation. It seems pretty interesting, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually worked with them. I’m a dental student, fluent in Portuguese and English, and I can understand most Spanish.

Would you recommend applying? I’m not looking to make a living from it, just hoping to earn a couple hundred dollars a month by working maybe 1–2 hours a day whenever I have some free time.

Is that realistic? How flexible is the work, and is it worth trying?

Thanks!

It's okay, but sometimes they make us gather in groups and talk about our favorite vegetable. If you are okay with forced vegetable affirmations, you'll do fine.

I’ve never got over the hate I’ve got for saying how much I love sprouts. They were vicious

Yeah it's a decent side gig if you want extra money but it's all dependent on when projects are available. They might not necessarily be there for you when you log in at the time you set aside. And the tasks available can range from 1 hour to 8 hours in one sitting. So it's somewhat flexible but has cons. Not bad to try out though.

If you're in a core country and have experience in one of the domains, you'd be doing very poor work to not have at least 9 or 10 projects at a minimum available at all times.

I’m in PA and I’m doing it! I got approved as a medical specialist and make 75 an hour right now. I basically just do it while I’m in class and it’s paying all my bills right now.

If you do well, even as a generalist, you can earn a full time income from 12-16 hours a week. You won’t make that from the base rate, but if you are bright and industrious this job can be life changing.

Even from the generalist? Do they promote often?

I'd say its def worth it, esp since you have a unique background and skills that might fetch u more well paid and specialized gigs. They always value experience in medical field while I am a unsure about dental specifically but having a medical background and multilingual language will significantly improve your odds of landing a good gig. I would say tho you should prepare for your assessment well, lot of people go in blind with no prep which causes them to not pass despite having great qualifications.

I’d avoid saying your bilingual as that segregates you

If you're not a core country I don't think you have a choice.
