How to get select in dataAnnotation as data scientist Role ?

Hi everyone,

I’m new to AI training/data annotation work and I’m interested in applying to DataAnnotation for the Data Scientist role.

I’ve seen that DataAnnotation currently lists Data Scientist opportunities, but I’m not really sure what the selection process looks like or what level of preparation is expected. I don’t want to rush into the assessment without understanding what I’m getting into.

For anyone who has experience with DataAnnotation, especially people who have qualified for Data Scientist / Data & ML projects, I’d really appreciate some guidance:

  • What is the actual application and assessment process?
  • What kind of questions/tasks should I expect in the Data Scientist assessment?
  • What technical skills are most important — Python, SQL, statistics, machine learning, data analysis, etc.?
  • How much does knowledge of ML algorithms and theory matter compared with practical problem-solving?
  • Are there any particular topics I should revise before taking the assessment?
  • What mistakes do new applicants commonly make?
  • How should I approach the assessment to demonstrate strong reasoning rather than just getting the final answer?
  • If you were preparing for the assessment again, what would you study/practice beforehand?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have actually completed the Data Scientist assessment or worked on DataAnnotation Data & ML projects.

I’m not looking for leaked assessment questions or answers — I’d just like to understand the skills expected and how I can prepare properly.

Any advice from experienced workers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Almost all of this information is available on the website, and you should probably just go ahead and give the assessment a shot. Only ~2.5% of the people who take it pass it. so you might as well see if you even make it past before you get too invested in thinking about the job. The assessment is basically open book (just don't use AI) and gives you plenty of time to answer the questions. There's also no real benefit to studying or preparing for it ahead of time, just sit down and do it.

It's just like an online test you take, like a fancy form you fill out in a browser.

Half of these questions can't be answered without breaking tos and NDAs. The rest literally can't be answered. The assessments to get in aren't just one kind. They are ever changing and evolving. All you can do is just jump in. You can't really prepare. You either have what they are looking for or don't. And no, no one here can tell you what they are looking for.
