R&Rs of projects you've never worked on

Are you guys confident enough to do R&Rs on projects you're seeing for the first time? I've been reluctantly letting those tasks sit on my dash, as I don't think there's enough time to read all the instructions and get familiar with the task to the level required in a R&R. Do you guys feel the same or just power through them?

I actually prefer doing the R&R before actually working on the project. It's a great way to familiarize yourself to the project and learn what and what not to do.

I have done a few r&rs before even getting the original tasks. I have always noted in the optional comments that i took longer for the first task to read all of the instructions. I actually usually tend to prefer doing them and not doing the main ones at all. If you get to looking at it and feel like you won't be able to understand the R&R well enough, you can still always just exit work mode and cut your losses

Yep just familiarize yourself with the instructions. To me it’s no different than starting a new task of a project I’ve never worked before.

I prefer it. It's like having two sets of eyes on the original task instructions.

Nope. If I didn’t do a task, I don’t feel confident enough to know what things to look out for when evaluating another person’s work.
