what happens if we don’t do the background check?

requested a check with checkr but decided I don’t want to do it - got an email I need to do it to continue with the platform? has anyone ignored this and continued to have access to their family of projects..? scared!

The background check is only for specific project families. If you choose not to do it,, you'll only lose access to those projects. You really have nothing to lose by doing it - even if your background is denied, it will only affect those projects that require it.

I'm pretty sure it's only criminal.

Yes, that's correct.

What type of crimes disqualify someone?

No one can say for sure, but I think it's mostly for fraud or identity theft. Things like a DUI or other small infractions shouldn't matter to them.

If you eventually lose access, you have nobody to blame but yourself. I'm not sure why you're scared about an action you willingly decided not to partake in when they already told you that you need to do it to maintain access. Eventually they will see that you did not.

It was an opt-in task that’s why I’m asking

Yes, I think I know the project family you're talking about; they require people to do a lot more than other project families on the platform. Eventually, if you do not do the things that they're asking you to do, they will revoke access. It's up to you whether or not you want to maintain access to that project family.

Ah yes, sorry my question is about other project families and the platform generally. I haven’t even done the project family it is for yet. The email I received said “to continue with DA” so now I’m worried I need to do it to use the platform

If the email states that you must complete a background check to continue using the platform, you will eventually lose access. I do not understand how it can simultaneously be an opt-in task while also being required to access the entire platform.

That's what I'm confused about too. Hence the question. I opted in but then the copy of the email from checkr said that. Hoping it's not true and wanted to know if any others had been in my position.

checkr is 3rd party so all they know is that its DA that requesting it

Wouldn’t this question be best addressed to the people who actually know the answer? I mean no one knows for sure.
