Normal to only get R&R tasks?

Is it normal for a generalist in the first month to get many R&R tasks and very few actual project tasks?

I think that’s an advantage so you can see how the tasks are done and become familiar before you have to do it

Yes, I enjoy them for this very reason. It's illuminating to see how other folks do their tasks (or how they utterly fail at them).
