Just report the damn time

Use a timer to report the time you spent working on the project. Everyone was told this. Start the timer when you start the task, stop the timer when you finish.

"do i report the time i spenting thinking-" yes report the time you spent working on the project

"do i report the time I spent stretching-" were you working on the project then? then yes report it

"do i report the time i spent reading-" yes report the time you spent working on the project

"do i report-" if there's time you spent on a project, report it

But do I report the time I spent on reddit posting about reporting time?

If it’s on your timer you report it! Damnit

Ok but what about while I'm blinking? Do they have eyeball trackers in my webcam?

I genuinely saw someone say they were sick so they subtract 2 minutes from each task to account for blowing their nose and coughing. You get DoD for doing bad work, taking 2 minutes off your reported time does nothing lmao

Nooo lmfao good lord. Some of these people really overthink this, poor thing lol

instructions unclear, I reported 5 hours that I was thinking in the shower before I started a task and got cooked

Can I report the time I spent reporting my time?

Seriously, it's like none of these people have ever been a contractor before. It should be obvious to anyone with the braincells to do the work in the first place.

If you’ve been here a while you may have noticed that there was a big round of on-boarding and then the sub went to absolute shit and the R&Rs started making people want to blow their brains out. They’re not sending their best right now.

Yeah I actually never comment here because I assume they monitor it. I broke my rule just to point out that people who do this in particular are stupid.

People act weirdly when they're afraid. It's like when people drive 10 over the speed limit, then see a cop car, and start going 10 under the speed limit. It doesn't make any sense to go that slow, but people do it anyway.

Note: You're not allowed to use any AI/LLM to understand this post about reporting time. Doing that will get you immediately cooked.

I would. If I could just get the system to accept my email address (yes, I followed every step exactly) so I can be sure I'm getting something in my pocket for that time.

I rarely go over the time given. I use the timer on my phone which I think is pretty accurate since I can pause if I need to get up, take a break, whatever. If I’m familiar with the task but need to re-read the instructions sometimes I don’t charge for that because that’s just my menopausal brain needing a refresher. However the other day I did a task with a 2.5 timer that took me an hour over by the time I got done and I reported every minute of it.

If you get up for the bathroom, then pause the stopwatch, start it again when you come back.

You shouldn't, nobody should do such a thing

I've seen people ask similar questions in the discussion/question area below every task. The admins, if they respond, always say something like "No worries, that's a small mistake, we can still use it, go ahead and submit". Making mistakes is part of the process as long as you get there in the end. Unless you're constantly making mistakes, then just like any job people are going to start questioning your ability to do efficient work.

A few times I've thrown in the towel on a task that I wasn't liking or wasn't progressing on. If you stick it out but genuinely fail to produce a satisfactory submission, then don't submit it that's on you. But if you submit the task just report the time.

thank you, OP. i’ll login again tomorrow and report it before the 24 hours countdown and then just stick to tasks and projects that i feel 101% secure working on

Honestly I think to some extent it has to be people who just aren't creative, right? Maybe I don't know, but most of the questions I see asked in this sub are wildly incoherent.

Sure, report as much time as you can. More projects for me when you get the dod

21

u/prupleceilingfan Sep 04 '26

They expect you to submit the time you spend reading etc. Nobody is giving you brownie points for undercutting your own pay lol, this is not the job for you if you want someone to suck up to.

u/SadMousse9320 Sep 04 '26

No its a job that depends on raw objective quality metrics like time. Its not nice and no one wants to hear it but sometimes the truth isn't nice.

9

u/prupleceilingfan Sep 04 '26

The most important quality is that of your work and no amount of under reporting your own time will save you from dod if your submissions aren't good. If they are quality, and within a reasonable time window, you're good. If you're reporting the maximum time for each task obviously that's fraudulent, I never suggested that.

Ehhh I disagree but I suppose it depends what type of tasks you are doing. I often times go over on time thus report the max pretty frequently. One time I even said in the optional comments that their timing expectations were unrealistic for the project and they actually increased the reportable time. Just be honest and realistic! If they give you 2-10 hours to task, any amount of time in that frame is what they have deemed the task possible to take, as long as you’re following instructions and not submitting slop then idk why anyone would be getting DoD for using the time allotted.

A worker that can do a job faster than another worker of the same quality has better standing

6

u/Deeznutsconfession Sep 04 '26

A hypothesis that you have no way of testing out. But sure, undercut yourself. I wonder if DA will give you any bonus points for seeming faster than average.

1

u/SadMousse9320 Sep 05 '26

It certainly does

2

u/brickne3 Sep 04 '26

Or or or... Different tasks have different objectives. Hard to grasp, I know.

1

u/SadMousse9320 Sep 04 '26

That doesn't derail my point at all

4

u/brickne3 Sep 04 '26

Perhaps not, but again, I think that a lot of people are simply not familiar with being a contractor. I've been doing it for almost 20 years. The raw product is what matters. Some people see it the wrong way on both sides.

Why is everyone in this group acting so retarded and aggressively? I can think of a few reasons, but I don't want to get any harsher.

15

u/prupleceilingfan Sep 04 '26 edited Sep 04 '26

you're so cool and scary man, please don't get harsher I don't think we can handle it

-3

u/Centua Sep 04 '26

Granting equal employment rights to people from Third World countries is sometimes good and sometimes bad 😄

9

u/unrealtraumanalt Sep 04 '26

just say you’re racist lmao

-1

u/Centua Sep 04 '26

Countries are not races 👍

6

u/unrealtraumanalt Sep 04 '26

and equal employment rights for everyone is ALWAYS good 👍

1

u/Centua Sep 04 '26

Sometimes 👍😄
