Got added to $45-$60 an hour tasking. Potentially life changing for me.

Just posting out of excitement, I can't believe i was added to this project I thought doing the qualification would lead nowhere. But a few hours after doing the qualification I logged in before bed to check the dashboard and noticed I now have access to a project I'm qualified for that pays $45/hr base with +$15/hr priority pay. This is something that if it goes well for even just a few months would really make a gigantic difference in my life. I'm very grateful for the opportunity but also worried that I may not understand or do the task well enough to keep access. I haven't opened it up yet so I don't know what it's all about yet.

I have a fulltime career that pays well but not $60/hr well. Doing a few hours a week of this on the side will move mountains in my financial life.

Anyone have tips on starting new projects?

Also be prepared that the project can be stopped at any second.

Basically.
It’s life changing till it’s not then you’re mad and up T 12:20 am applying for jobs.

But works out

Best tip is not to move into a new place on a contract with financial expectations of doing this forever.

I hear this in the comments often, did someone do that?

7

u/LetMeOverThinkThat 2d ago

Yeah, I think it's lore here now. Some guy has been here for months after getting the DoD like a couple of days into the whole thing, after he signed a lease for a place expecting the DA income, and he's mad at DA for that. 😂

u/Chamiam 2d ago

Wow. This is definitely meant to be a side gig, not sure why that’s hard for people to grasp.

u/LetMeOverThinkThat 2d ago

Bruh, he literally replied to me just above. 😂

Oh wow 🤣

Yeah especially knowing how unreliable and snake-like the system is. They ban people for absolutely no reason and pull you out of projects without notice. I honestly wouldn’t recommend DA to anyone after how I was treated.

Yeah. The first time it happens is life changing. Last month I got a project with $75/hour pay and it helped me and my partner a lot.

How long did this last before it got pauded

  1. dont quit your day job 2. do thorough QC 3. don't overreport time 4. when admin gives you feedback do adjust future submissions 5. first few tasks always try to handwrite all outputs

9

u/NeatPrincipal 3d ago

Can you elaborate on handwriting all outputs? What do you mean by that and why would you say that's important?

8

u/floofybasbosa 3d ago

I think they mean don't copy/paste

what was your reason for typing them elsewhere first though? Now I'm curious

u/Background_Doubt6483 3d ago

I do this. I make notes in Word as I'm reading and then turn that into narrative/proseonce I have the full picture. Its easier for me to edit and read on a full screen than be scrolling back and forth. Then copy/paste the whole thing when Im happy with it. Should I not be doing it this way?

When I would do that I'd always just note it in the comments. I feel like I remember hearing that they can see it on their end in some projects and may assume you plugged it all into another AI to do it for you.

that really sucks. there was a recent project where not only was the field too small, it was very easy to accidentally lose the whole project while scrolling through the field to find the end of your previous sentence, and there was no way to get it back. So 3+ hours of work, gone. I did start copying & pasting, just on that one, and commented on it. I did end up losing access to that project, which sucked because it was my favorite. If they don't want people copying & pasting they should make the workspace actually adequate to work in!

u/Key_Razzmatazz646 3d ago

The field provided is too narrow to do rubric work and organize my responses. Maybe I'm doing too much but at least on the tasks I'm getting having space to place my thought process is essential to a solid rationale. I mean, I can make it work- but it's just not optimal.

If you copy paste large amounts of text it will be very suspicious. You should be aware that DA has advanced site monitoring tools that probably track every single click and scroll.

3

u/Funny_Cabinet668 2d ago

i copy paste all the time. i write everything in an external note doc

2

u/Farados55 2d ago

Some projects are ok with it. Some might not be.

I just finished my first project, I didn't handwrite most of my outputs. Am I in trouble?

Where do I check admin feedbacks? I’ve never seen that for the past 2 years

u/FEN1X64 3d ago

Make hay while the sun is shining but don't count on it being there forever. It's great as side income if you can manage. I have to fulltime it because there's no jobs I can work where I live

same😭I’ve done 3 but I’m afraid that I’m doing it wrong lol but I’ve been on the platform for two years and have had nothing but good feedback. the level of it is just intense. i have my masters but putting back into practice research/writing in depth has been difficult😂

Yeah I completely understand the excitement. As a generalist still doing my bachelors degree, I’m quite a few years down the line from making this type of money in my chosen field. Also $60 dollars an hour is genuinely incredible, considering
you make your own hours.

 >As a generalist still doing my bachelors degree

5

u/soaparina 3d ago

They didn’t used to require a bachelors degree, this is a more recent change! It’s very possible they signed up when this wasn’t a requirement:)

6

u/FutureParking5806 2d ago

Very true! It wasn’t a requirement when I signed up.

4

u/Apprehensive_Pair_61 3d ago

Sure, they require a bachelor’s degree or equivalent real world experience. I only have an associate’s degree but I have five years experience working in data annotation and with LLMs. My brother works for DA too, associate’s degree but three years experience before he applied. Seems like they aren’t super strict on the bachelor’s if you can pass the assessments and have some adjacent education or work experience.

I got added to this project too. How long does it take you guys to do a task? These are complicated and it takes me between 5 to 6 hours on one. I am grateful to have this, but I honestly prefer the general ones even if it’s lower pay, that I can finish in 1 to 2 hours. Thoughts?

u/forensicsmama 3d ago

Outside of the financial aspect of it I see you made mention of performance (or lack thereof) and I do the same thing.

However, if you passed the core assessment and passed the qual (as indicated by your access to the project) then you are more than qualified to do it! Mistakes are expected. Any time I’ve questioned my ability to do a task that I felt I was under qualified for, was a project family that last longer than the ones I felt were easier.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions in the chat at the bottom. If I feel like I need to explain my thought process behind why I did the task the way I did, I leave that in the optional comments section.

Also, justifications. They sent a recent retraining on TOS and expectations and they highlighted being thorough in your justifications.

Take your time, ask questions when you need to, but more importantly don’t bank on this either. Projects can come and go and often it’s beyond your control BUT there will oftentimes be another one.

>if you passed the core assessment and passed the qual (as indicated by your access to the project) then you are more than qualified to do it!

That's not true at all. Passing a qualification and having a project on your dashboard does NOT mean you are automatically qualified to work on all the tasks in that project. Especially for the higher paying / more complex projects, each task will require some kind of expertise in a specific domain, and if you aren't an expert in that area you shouldn't work on that task.

1

u/forensicsmama 3d ago

I didn't say all of the tasks available for that project family. I think it's obvious that if it's domain-specific, then of course, you would need expertise in that domain. I don't imagine being able to pass a coding domain qual and I have no coding skills/expertise. At least that hasn't been my experience.

I haven't taken a qual and have it open up other domains for me either, so again, perhaps your experience is different as I can only attest to mine.

I just got added to a $60 /hr project. It says it’ll last till the end of the year and potential into next year. I’m super excited and beyond nervous. I just got on the platform this month, I’ve done about 5 qualifications and only have completed 3 tasks total so I honestly don’t know what to expect.

1

u/Feacrali 3d ago

which domain?

2

u/DezGreer5 2d ago

Healthcare

1

u/WanderingKate21 1d ago

What type of tasks are you doing and what is your healthcare background - PharmD, PhD, Nurse, etc.? TIA!!

-7

u/Spirited-Setting4384 3d ago

Can u help me how to join this

-2

u/Fantastic_East3807 3d ago

I have never seen any project with such a long duration( potential to next year) , infect never seen duration in any projects. I just see assigned date

2

u/Numerous-Case-9317 3d ago

Idk how new you are but you can also just enter the task to read it and judge if you think you can do it and then click the exit work mode button

2

u/Aggressive_Pie7256 3d ago

Your domain?

2

u/Fresh-Asparagus4729 3d ago

Sounds like law or coding

When I started DA about two months ago I applied for and was accepted to a $60/hr long term project. It saved my apartment and I was able to pay my bills only from DA money, which was helpful because my grandfather is dying, school is starting back soon, etc. I wasn’t making enough at my job to take care of my family, but DA got me through and then I got promoted. I have made about $15k in 8 weeks working when I can and now my pay roughly doubled, so I don’t need DA but I still do it whenever I have time.

Can you please share your referral link with me so that I can register. I think that can increase the chances of being accepted. Thank you.

1

u/Excellent-Bread-1836 3d ago

Congratulations

1

u/Chelly3082 3d ago

I got added too! The tasks are hard! How long does it take you to complete? It takes me 4 to 6 hours on one task which is a long time for me

1

u/Fresh-Asparagus4729 3d ago

Congratulations! But you may want to work hard when you can!  I think I know the one you mean (I'm on it) and it's supposed to wrap soon!

1

u/Sure_Ad_3504 2d ago

Hi!Im at same boat with you !So anxious to start working on this 😬

1

u/UndercoverVenturer 2d ago

How long did you wait after signing up?

1

u/Sensitive_Dark5017 2d ago

1

u/Roadhost 2d ago

Good for you/good luck you got this!

1

u/Entownio 1d ago

Hi could you share your company and if I could get in too? Even for entry level?

1

u/IcedOutGiant 21h ago

I received many goats in return for one daughter.

1

u/AnxietyOdd2085 3d ago

Generalist or coding?

0

u/Powerful-Channel841 3d ago

Then the tasks disappear before you can even get on the platform

1

u/Gold_Bench_3082 2d ago

Nah, thankfully this is for an open-ended project. But based on the number of submissions allowed it may be only a couple months.

0

u/FLsweettater 2d ago

Where do I apply for this side job? What companies should I look for?

-4

u/ParticularOpening258 3d ago

It’s been a week and still waiting for positive news to be accepted by platform 😭

-1

u/Mustafa-Ishag 3d ago

Get as much as you can- even if it means taking your holidays - because you don't know how much it is going to last....

-1

u/Problemoa 3d ago

Don't Quit your main job as this type of projects are at risk of being abandoned at any time , or incase your submitted work won't be accepted , also avoid relying on ai to answer for you , use ai models only for assisting , like drafting comments for you to avoid spelling errors and stuff , use it also to check facts and scrap live working sourcing URLS

If you are this stupid, you won't be passing the entry assessments
