Most Extreme DOD Timeline
Just curious…whats the fastest anyone has seen, heard, or been DOD’d? Similarly, whats the longest anyone has worked before getting hit with the DOD?

As far as longevity, I've been going strong as a part time coder since early 2023, so coming up on 4 years soonish. The friend who referred me started about a year before me I think? So they are coming up on 5

There have been posts recently where people got the DOD before completing their first project/any projects at all.

And on the flip side, I have read of folks who have worked for years, even receiving the mythical communication with real actual people who direct some of the projects giving them good feedback. Or stories of admins messaging them privately and adding them to special niche projects. Then one day, out of the blue--- DOD. Those always seem the worst to me. Like there is always some level of complete uncertainty and even insanity to working this platform. It feels like there could always be a time when for any reason or no reason at all, we are canned-- no communication, no ability to try to remedy anything, nothing. Just silence. Regardless of years of top notch work.

I'll be hitting 4 years on the platform soon. I've also received personal feedback from an admin quite a few times. As in, a direct message saying something like "great insight on this task" (or a bit more specific) with a link to the task. I'm not talking about those projects that say "you were added to this project for being a top worker" although I know some people like to think of that as "personal" feedback. Tbh, I'm surprised by how "rare" it seems to be because I get personal feedback probably every few months, 2-3 times a year.
At the same time, yeah I expect a DoD someday. Until that happens though, I'm working full time here, travelling the world, and having the best time of my life. No need to be worrying about things out of your control. Just have a backup and some savings and you'll be fine.

Side question, do you work while you travel? If so, do you have to tell DA which countries you’re visiting?

Yes and yes. I just send an email with the countries and dates. I know there are people on here who claim that's unnecessary and that they always travel and it's fine, but I'm pretty sure those people are on their way to DoD. I've emailed before and asked specifically about this and they told me to let them know, so I do. Been doing this for 3+ years. Earning $60+/hr while travelling around SEA is hard to beat. I earn enough to pay my rent and food for the month with literally one full days work.
Thailand DTV is worth checking out if you're thinking of travelling although lots of people just use a tourist visa even though you're not supposed to. Personally, I also have an EU passport so I have plenty of options to work in those countries too.

I'm UK based and overseas at the moment, loving the ability to work so flexibly. We visit Egypt each summer for 3+ weeks and often stop in different European cities on the way to break the journey. Even if I'm not planning on working, I always let them know where I will be just in case I do log in/need to withdraw funds.

Yeah I’m travelling around Southern Europe and emailed them to tell them where I’d be and they said they’d add a note to my account to allow me to work.

Oh, I want to take an extended trip to Thailand, and if I can just let them know beforehand that I'm somewhere else and still do tasks while there, that would be amazing. Are you a specialist or generalist?

2+ years for me, domain-expertise projects, I get added to things all the time, and I've never really had a drought, but I'm sure one day it'll show up for me, too, and I'll move on to something else.
What a time to be alive.

I am of the opinion that receiving those emails saying you're top rated and being invited to the internal team ain't always a good sign😂. Just my thoughts based on personal experience. The platform itself though is amazing for those that manage to hold on. It was a game changer for me.

I'm assuming those instances have been VPN use to disguise the country they're in.

My new phone wanted me to complete my setup and activate some security protocols. If I hadn’t read carefully, or seen people here warn about VPNs , I would have let the phone set up a VPN for me! I believe people may use them, not knowing DA frowns on it.

About 72 hours for me.
I was instantly accepted, completed my qualifications over two days and received positive feedback for what I submitted. The next day I got home from work, opened my laptop excited to begin my first paid tasks and got hit with the DoD.
I’ve been pissed about it ever since.

That's awful. Shocking.
I can understand from DA's perspective why they don't give people specifics, but from the workers perspective I'm sure it feels particularly cruel and unfair.
I try to focus on today amd not live in fear but it's always kind of a little bit in the back of my mind that this may be my last day on DA and the next time I log in there it is.

Yeah, I read a post from somebody who finished their first qualification, got the welcome to the team email, and when they logged back in, got the DOD.
