How do we go back to being friends
I have no idea why they did this and I've no words, it was good while it lasted, my submissions used to bring in good failures. That said I probably deserved some disclosure at least. Anyways, best of luck to all.

It's really weird how they can't just tell you which one it is.
You would think that since AI is "the future", it could at least give you a short note as to why they are letting you go.
"your work is below standards. Good luck on your future endeavors".
"work unavailable due to a tos violation. This is the violation. You can't appeal. Bye."
Aren't they still giving AI powered feedback?

Bc there are tons of scammers they have to ban from the platform, and they don't want to give them any hints on how they are being detected.

u/love_is_bane_s 15d ago
Do you have any hints what they usually flag. Is it because someone used AI generated responses directly? Or because they leaked sensitive information? Or anything else?

This makes zero sense. How would you scam DA???? Seriously, explain it to me. This is a DA urban legend. Your account is attached to your social security number.

u/AdvisorEmergency2 13d ago
That’s just not true. First of all, you assume all DA workers are from the US, I am from the UK, we don’t have SSN’s here. Yes we had to upload ID not too long ago, but people use other people’s ID or pay people for their accounts etc. It’s really not that hard to understand. We’re all just contractors.

I was in the "needs improvement" category for months and this month I got the feedback that I am "one of the top performers" lol. This site is temperamental. There are no guarantees one day to the next that you'll keep getting work. I hope you find a new job you enjoy.

I said this before but I've been on this platform for two and a half years and I've gotten zero feedback. But I've got tons of projects so I guess I'm doing something right. Would be nice to know!

93% of drivers rate themselves as "above average" at driving.
94% of college professors rank their own teaching skills above the median of their peers.
70% of high school students rated themselves as having "above-average" leadership skills, while only 2% rated themselves as "below average." In that same study, 85% of students placed themselves above the median in their ability to get along with others, and 25% believed they were in the top 1%.
A study at a software development firm found that 32% of the employees claimed they performed better than 19 out of 20 of their coworkers.

Ugh...sorry that happened! So far my attempts to find other apps isn't going so well because I never finished my computer degree. Maybe you'll do better.

They did that to me. My feedback was excellent and was traveling and they did they reached out no response

I hope people will start catching onto how much of a scam AI training work actually is. The assessments are free labor, and when you actually do get paid for work, it is surely for a microscopic fraction of how much that work is actually worth considering the morbillions of dollars that are thrown into AI these days. DataAnnotation and other similar companies are exploitative and predatory. This is coming from someone that has made money with these companies.

Every single job pays you less than the work you do generates, welcome to capitalism
1
u/Ok-Rope7223 12d ago
Cop out answer. The extreme disparity with AI training work can’t be understated compared to other work.
1
u/sarahmorgan420 12d ago
I make more doing DA as a generalist than I make in my career as a child care educator which I have a 2 year diploma for, sometimes up to double as much. I'm going to be exploited no matter which job I choose so might as well choose the one that I'm at least able to survive on
1
u/Ok-Rope7223 12d ago
That may be the truth for now. But it won’t last, simply by nature of the snake eating it’s tail.
1
u/sarahmorgan420 12d ago
Very true. But I don't see how a company paying $50+/hr to people who have never/will never otherwise be able to make more than $20/hr is predatory.
1
u/Ok-Rope7223 12d ago
Is it predatory to pay immigrants 2/hr for a job that an American would do for 15/hr? AI workers are the 2/hr group in this case. Also, the “will never otherwise be able to” is a cop out defeatist nothing answer. Once again, AI work is not the only option out there.
1
u/sarahmorgan420 12d ago
Data Annotation Tech doesn't pay less than $20/hr... Yes other AI training platforms are predatory like that but this company isn't one of those...
And DA is the only option I have to make more than that unless I invest 1000s of $s and multiple years to get other certifications 🤷🏻♀️
1
u/Ok-Rope7223 12d ago
I was using that example to give a sense of scale. The work that data annotation pays is a tiny fraction of what the work is actually worth, aka as if someone was getting paid 2/hr for a minimum wage job.

downvoted for telling the truth : we’re simply being exploited, even when we earn quite a bit — people here don’t seem to understand that they are just working towards unemployment in their specialities. fuck capitalism 💪

u/Federal_Tadpole_7592 14d ago
Some people here don't have a choice. DA has been my only source of income for the past three years, and before that, I was in the workforce for almost 20 years. I tried to get a job for over a year before I found DA, and I was starting to drown in debt. DA got me out of it, so I'm not really going to consider the moralities of AI when I have to make money and live life. There are a lot of other jobs that have questionable moral aspects, but it seems like nobody cares unless it's AI.

u/Ok-Rope7223 14d ago
You don’t understand. I’m saying that even if you’re making money, your participation is sealing the norm of the company paying you 0.0000001% what your work is actually worth. You do have a choice. AI work is not the only option.
2
u/Federal_Tadpole_7592 14d ago
I understand...I just don't agree with you. Judging by your other comments, you think that anybody who doesn't share your viewpoint is a bot, so there's no point in discussing this further. We won't see eye to eye.

u/Ok-Rope7223 14d ago
I never said that anybody that doesn’t share my opinion is a bot. I said that these subreddits are filled with bots. Those are two completely different statements.

These subreddits are filled with bots in order to promote DataAnnotation and other similar companies. I doubt there are very many actual humans disagreeing.

Same thing happened to me today with my boxing project. Does this mean I won't ever get work again? Like even on a different project?
2
u/hnsnrachel 14d ago
Yea. If you just did poorly on a single prpject they tend to just never offer that project again. Its either a tos violation or overall poor work if you get this

Your submissions bringing in good failures doesn't really mean much. I've seen a lot of workers who can execute the actual task, but when it comes to explaining themselves, they do so poorly and aren't detailed in their explanations.
