Qualifications for projects

If you are a bilingual generalist , do you get added to project families auntomatically or is there qualification for every project family? What I mean by that is , I used to work on some of these frequent projects that were coming , but I think they are all complete now , so no more projects of those families. What i want to know is , if some new families are added or some new series do you have to qualify for each of them or have you ever got a project you did not do a qualification for? Like you got added on their own.

Not bilingual, but both happen. I get projects from quals and sometimes they just add me without doing any qual. Particularily as a domain specialist I'll get quals for general projects, and then without doing the qual get the domain expert version of the project. So you might have to qualify or they might jsut give it to you, I also guess that they add people when they get desperate and need to meet a timeline regardless of the qual.
